After a long time I am here. More than 2 years I am fine with my current drugs. I am 58yrs old now and afib patient since 2014. I am taking now dilzem 60 two times, Warf according to INR report, telmikind 80 after breakfast, nexovas 10 before bed and thyronorm 75 in the morning. But sometimes I feel ectopic heart beats sometimes for upto 5 hours and it gets normal on its own. My doctor says that this is not to worry about. I don't know what to do? Can any tell me about ectopic heart beats?

Ectopic beats are a common thing in every heart and generally quite benign although I do accept that in extremis they can be irritating.
Slow diaphragmic breathing (use stomach not shoulders) slowing your breathing down to less than six per minute for at least five minutes often stops them.
If ectopics probably nothing to worry about. That said, given your history and medications, you might want to make sure they are ectopics and not another arrhythmia. If you feel you can't make that determination on your own, then maybe ask your doctor for holter monitoring get a home device like Kardia or Apple Watch. Both of which will generate an ecg that you can share with your doctor,
I had many ectopics...my Cleveland Clinic EP, after looking at my 12-lead.... told me to start Potassium supplementation up to 2 Grams/day... he recommended low-sodium V8... and this basically eliminated my ectopics. (He also has had me taking Magnesium supplements/vitamin form for a long time which calms the heart)
So, is the V-8 juice the potassium supplement ? Or in addition to ? My potassium is on the low end of normal and this could help mine. Also what are your magnesium pills ? In a multivitamin or alone. Also at what dosage.
I would just add that Dr Sanjay Gupta of York Cardiology has produced a number of videos on YouTube that you can easily find, on ectopics. You might find these helpful.
Hello mbhakta, I have been experiencing off and on ectopics (pacs mostly) for a couple of years now (PAF for about 3 years). I have found that meditation/ yoga and deep breathing exercises can help with mild episodes. But have also found that magnesium taurate and CoQenz10 supplementation has been helpful in reducing the amount and intensity of the ectopics (be careful with potassium supplementation as an overabundance of potassium can trigger arrhythmias - obtaining balanced levels through diet is safest route). For the most part my EP and arrthymia nurses say that ectopics are benign, but this is in moderation. There are times when my ectopics increase to 1000s/ 10000s a day which can trigger afib events (though not always). Keep a journal of your ectopic activity and if increasing substantially would be best to discuss with your healthcare team (especially if triggering other arrthymias or afib).Others on this support site and others have mentioned that medications can influence ectopic activity (as well as post ablation) so keep this in mind as perhaps med review with pharmacist is appropriate? Over time the ectopics do seem to wax and wane so hang in there (I know they can be Disconcerting at times and feel like mini runs of afib if you get them in clusters).
I was just going to write a post when I saw yours. I’m experiencing them now I feel my heart jump Why is it all of a sudden you feel it ? Is it when you are more stressed or is it just something that happens zi try not to but I do get in a state about it
