One week out from second ablation

After a lot of consideration, I took my EP’s advice and had my second ablation last Wednesday. (First one was in Feb 2021). One of my main concerns was how ill I was last time, due to anesthesia- which is always an issue for me. I was throwing up, shaking, shivering and agitated. Literally wishing the minutes away til I felt better. My EP assured me they could manage that better this time. I requested a telehealth appointment with anesthesia and felt somewhat better about it after that.

They listened, made changes with the main adjustments being an additional anti-nausea medication in my iv as well as an anti-nausea patch behind my ear. I was also put under via IV only - no gasses.

What a difference this time around! Although I still threw up, it was only a few times and for less than an hour or so. I went home the next morning feeling tired, but pretty good. Knock on wood, my esophagus fared better this time, no migraines and just feel better all around. Still laying very low as I don’t want a third, but would be much more likely to suggest an ablation after this one! Best wishes to all undergoing this procedure!

Trish

Thank you for posting this, it's really helpful for anyone having a GA and knowing that it can affect them in the way you describe. Being able to have an appointment with the anethetist beforehand to discuss any previous issues would go a long way to relieving any fears around this subject.

I wish you all the best in your recovery too.

This is very encouraging! Sometimes you've gotta dig your heels in. Seriously I'd no idea they used gas these days...
