I live outside of Norwich in Norfolk and was looking for recommendation for a good consultant (private o NHS) who deals with A-fib and Arrhythmia. I’ve done some research but always find personal recommendation is the way forward
Many thanks for any suggestions.

Hi SJ1000. I can't recommend based on your location, but may be able to throw out another option. I am currently British but living overseas where English speaking doctors are rare and trying to understand everything I am being told is a challenge. As a result, I had an online consultation with a doctor in England and it was the most reassuring experience I've had since my issues started. You would have to have had some kind of testing data (ECG, ultrasound, X-ray, etc) to send to them however, so if you are looking to have these done as well, it might not work. A lot of the online services I found were with Harley Street practitioners, and I was concerned about the fees, but the consultations seem well priced to me (and I am not a person of extravagant means!). Its probably not as good as face to face, but in Covid times (and overseas) I found it really useful.
I've been lucky enough to be treated by Papworth in Cambridge throughout the latter part of my Afib journey. And boy what a relief to escape from the clutches of my local cardiac unit who left me in a drug sozzled Afib state for weeks at a time, as well as keeping me in hospital for 20 (yes, twenty!) days one time and eight days another. Anyway, rant over. I have seen four different EPs from Papworth: Dr Agarwal for my initial visit, Dr Simon Finn privately (to escape from the above local hospital horror) and then Dr David Begley and Dr Greg Mellor. All are lovely, kind, approachable, happy to answer a ton of questions, you get loads of time with them. Marvellous.Hope this helps. You can find all their details online and you may be able to be referred in NHS from Norfolk (I'm Suffolk). Good luck x
Ps private consultation was about £250, during lockdown and Dr Finn was able to refer me straight back into NHS for an urgent cardioversion and then u was one of the first to get an urgent ablation when Papworth started doing them again. Best £250 I ever spent
I too can recommend Papworth. Unfortunately my EP Professor Grace has retired from clinical work and I’m under Dr Greg Mellor who I haven’t met yet but I’ve had good reports about him.
