Should I be worried?

Hi folks, I have had Atrial Fibrillation since 2009. I had my third Ablation in 2019 and although I am still in Atrial Fibrillation my symptoms are controlled with medication and I have been comfortable. Over the last couple of months, I have attended the GP with breathlessness, and generalised weakness. My blood results are normal and my physical check-up is normal. I have recently felt more breathless and decided to send an Alivecore ECG to a clinician today. The report reads. " All possible AF and Sinus Rhythm with Wide QRS EKGs". Should I be worried?

I am 79 years old this April should I just pace myself accordingly.

Hi Phyllis

The below explains wide QRS ECGs. Just insure your doctor reviews and consults with you on the result.

In the interim, unless your breathlessness worsens would not worry.

Thank you so much for replying to my query. If no need to worry do I need to see the doctor ?

Yes. Either in person or phone consult to explain the ECG and discuss your symptoms.

It's possible you are in persistent AF, which is one of the directions AF can take us. It's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, many find it easier to live with than paroxysmal AF because your rhythm is now typically irregular and our hearts adapt. My brother has persistent AF and says it hardly bothers him. However, the breathlessness is something to pay attention to so I agree, print up the readings as a pdf, show to your doctor and tell them about the breathlessness.
