My heart jumped out again 7 months post ablation. Tried taking double dose of bisop so 5mg but it’s been out all over night, now 13 hours. Can anyone tell me what the max dose i can take in a day is please. Been trying to get hold of arrythmia nurses for 2 weeks phoning every day leaving messages. They decided to phone me yesterday while I was in cinema with kids 🤦♂️ Typical. Anyway if someone could let me know id appreciate it.
Thanks

The maximum amount is usually 10mg titrating up slowly. I'm telling you that but of course am not in a position to advise you on the dosa ge you should take ! ( I once took double this in error but lived to tell the tale ...obviously...but was still in fast AF and was cardioverted at AE)
Thanks jalia. For some reason I thought I remembered Bob saying it was 5mg? Must have been mistaken. I don’t really care what my max dose is to be honest and i can’t get hold of the people who are supposed to be helping me so if I can take another one or two I will.
The advice I was usually given was try another 2.5mg. To be on safe side if that doesn't work I would take 10gingercats advice and get instructions from 111
I take a different BB Nebivolol and take an extra dose of my daily dose at the start of an episode of P-AF , doings so appears to reduce my heart rate slightly . I do this after discussion with my EP .
I would try to take things easy today if you can , stay calm, drink some water, breath slowly, lay down even have a sleep . I find doing these things sometimes precede the end of an episode so conclude it may help.
Sorry if you wanted advice on a precise dosage , hope you are out of it soon...
Hi Elli86, my doctor says 10mg maximum, but be careful around just changing doses yourself without proper advice. I've been titrated up to 5mg, once a day, over time, and my cardiologist said, on examination by echocardiogram, that he doubted I could take more without my resting heart rate dropping too low. However, Bisoprolol is only partially effective at helping stop AF attacks, so I asked if I could take a further dose when needed as a pill in pocket. My GP suggested trying an additional 2.5mg as needed, but when I resorted to this, I felt sick and faint and at rest my heart rate dropped to the low 30s and didn't feel at all good. Best to discuss your medication with your GP before making adjustments, I think.
