Anyone take amitriptyline for pain and how does it affect your AF? I had a successful ablation and don’t want to disrupt it.

Hiya FaberM,

No effect on AF at all. I was prescribed it for pain, left shoulder and sleeping issues at night due to pain - what it did do was cause diahorrea the next morning. No good to me as I am a bus driver and that sort of side effect is no good when on my shift. As soon as I stopped this stuff .... no more problems with diahorrea and I just stayed with my Cocodomol for pain relief.

Hi. I have PAF when I get it my symptoms are really felt and most times end up in A and E.I've taken Amitriptyline for years. It has no effect on my AF. The consultant said coming off it may make the pain in my spine worse cause more stress more AF. So agreed I could stay on it. Helps me sleep too.

But we are all different. So maybe chat to the professionals.

Well done on ablation. I can't make my mind up to have one or not. So we all have out doubts. Keep well. Keep AF FREE.
