Merck manual does list possible cardiac conduction effects such as frank arrythmia, tachycardia and is contraindicated in CHF. Sounds like a dedicated sleep p aids such as Ambien or a benzodiazepine would be a safer bet if you have afib or are over 60. Amitriptyline has strong anticholinergic effects that can exacerbate underlying heart conduction problems.
I have been taking 10mg a night for about a year for postherpetic neuralgia. All my doctors (including 2 cardiologists and my EP) and my pharmacist have said 10mg is a very low dose and it’s not an issue with my other drugs or AF. I went off it for a while but the nerve pain returned and a sleep specialist I saw recommended restarting it. He said he often prescribes it to assist with sleep and for bed wetting or to help people who have to urinate a lot at night.
been on 10mg at night for many years. Cardiologist said he would prefer me to stop it but I said no because my back pain gets worse without it. My doc not worried because it is such a small dose but the difference in pain is remarkable.
