Hello mate,
I can feel with you. Reckon I had sleep apnea many years before diagnosis. But when I developed PAfib, my EP sent me straight to the sleep laboratory and yeah, confirmed. I got my CPAP and I went through numerous masks till I got the one that mate the whole process bearable. I use it now for 6 years and wear it during the night and even when I take a brief afternoon nap. It really helps.
Cheers
J
I did have some masks but they made my mouth very dry, had one with a moisture attached but could not get to sleep with all the attachments, if I turned over they would come off, and as I have moved to Leeds to live with my daughter ( granny flat ) and had 2 change doctors and with the pandemic will have 2 be referred again 2 local hospital which is not considered priority, so have not explained it to my new g.p practice
I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnoea, not sufficient for the NHS to do anything. I started using nasal strips and then a couple of years ago a mouth strip. I now have much better nights. Caveat: not suitable for everyone if you have other issues.
I have both obstructive apnea and central apnea. I use a CPAP machine, which causes such dry mouth that I wake up frequently during the night. I haven't yet found a mask that doesn't cause dry mouth--so dry I can barely swallow. You mentioned both nasal strips and mouth strips. I don't know about them. Please explain what they do. Thanks so much!
My experience is only with actions to counter mild apnea. Given this context, nasal strips were recommended to me by someone on this Forum. I then read the book 'Breathe' by James Nestor and decided to try a mouth strip. You have more apnoea than me and I would not recommend following my experience without consulting your doctor first.
Mouth taping works for me, may not be suitable for everyone depending on condition. I wake up so refresh and never have anymore insomnia. Many afibers suffer from sleep apnea without knowing it. You might want to watch you tube video or read books from Patrick Mc Keown.
