I recently underwent a procedure and experienced frequent ectopic beats and fast heart rate days afterwards. I had a cardiac ablation a few years ago fir Atrial Fibrillation, and haven't had any episodes since, until the aftermath of aforementioned surgery. Has anybody else experienced a similar reaction to anesthesia?

General anaesthetic and arrythmia
I had ankle surgery last year and had a good chat with the anaesthetic and surgeon beforehand about my arrhythmia history (I have had 4 ablations and a few arrhythmias). All was good during the surgery but the next morning I had tachycardia for a few hours. It soon settled. A few months ago I had a cortisone injection in my foot and had tachycardia a d lots of ectopics for a few days.
My EP says any physical (and emotional ) stress on the body can trigger a reaction but it doesn't necessarily mean the AF is coming back.
Hope all is well now.
Yep, it is apparently the adrenaline that is often mixed in with the anaesthetic. I make a point of saying this to my dentist and on the rare occasion I need surgery. The adrenaline would send me i to total SVT. Not pleasant so best avoided.
Bradycardia and anesthesia do not go well together as the heart may slow down too much.Bradicardia can precipitate tachycardia.
