AF rears it’s ugly head again!

Woke up in AF following a very unstable week with lots of ectopics, indigestion symptoms and so on. Inexplicable as I had spent a relaxing day with friends. I had gone 7.5 months without AF- the longest period since diagnosis-and had foolishly half persuaded myself that I had it under control. As always AF has the last laugh. My episodes usually last for 8-10 hours but I’m worried that if it is being driven by the booster vaccine-as a GP has suggested is possible-it may not terminate as usual (or at all?). Am anticipating a stressful period ahead...

argh no! Sorry to hear this. I'm still in the realms of when I get a bug I get AF, but I went a long time not having any major problems at all. So when it hits its like a kick in the teeth!

Be well!

Must be so frustrating for you and its probably only a matter of time before I experience the same thing.

It's a pain. I spoke to the GP who said that 7.5 months was a good interval between episodes. He said it was impossible to say what the cause was. Hope you manage to stay free of it.

Hopefully the episode has passed by this point and heart has settled. Just out of interest do you have pill in the pocket treatments you use for your paroxysmal episodes or do you ride them out unmedicated? Hope today a little brighter for you. Keep safe

I've been told to take an extra half tablet of Sotalol when AF strikes. I've slept well for over 9 hours and heart seems to be steady at the moment. Thanks.

I feel very similar to you and keep my fingers crossed regarding AF which has kept away since early October, although I still have ectopic beats a-plenty, mild morning tachycardia and digestive issues and chest aches. The covid booster jab was fine and I hardly knew I'd had it although I had my usual morning tachycardia while queuing up to have it (which I kept quiet about in case they refused)!
