Inflammation and afib I’m surprised.?

Long story short. I left work after my shift on Friday feeling rough. Heart rate faster than normal when later monitored but no missed beats, ectopics, or afib at all. Saturday afternoon felt awful.! Saturday evening I was feeling really poorly( even though I’m a bloke I was bad) I was shaking shivering and at midnight had a temp of 38.8 so thought I may have COVID so got a walk in swab test appointment day after convinced I had covid as temp was still same.!! Later on I Got my text saying negative👍 Started picking up very slightly but then my temp shot again and my wife noticed a rash on my leg that had got bigger since Friday and told me to go hospital. Iv spent most of day in hospital and after tests diagnosed with cellulitis that has run away.? a insect bite or a tiny cut near my knee has managed to get into my system and infect the joint fluid which has took hold and is spreading under the skin but will hopefully now start getting sorted with the shopping trolley full of tablets I’m taking for the next 7 days.!! If not I’m in hospital next week to go on intravenous. I don’t think I’ll need that as I’m improving already.👍 Although it is a surprise to me what my body has been fighting what is more of a surprise to me is that my heart has behaved like a pure diamond all way through.😳

Thankyou Bob, really appreciate that mate.👍 When I started with the fever and sweating and shaking etc I got myself prepared waiting for my heart to join in the party and got PIP ready at the side of the bed but it never showed and I can’t believe it didn’t when my body was going through all that. The doctor was pleased for me too but said that could have very well brought on a episode. I now think my heart must have a soft caring side after all?😂👍 Sod’s law I’ll be telling you tomorrow Iv just had 12 hour episode.??😂😂

Cellulitis in itself is very unpleasant and painful, my father-in-law had it and his symptoms were exactly the same as yours although he ended up having quite a long stay in hospital with it. Delighted your heart behaved and hope your recovery goes well.

Just my impression from reading messages here for several years but it would seem AF is more likely to kick in when relaxing than when you have a health issue; although there are some of both. I always recall the phrase someone was told by their medic 'when your heart rate drops, this gives the chance for all the other drummers to strike up'.

Hope things are getting back to normal.

I Never thought of it like that, but it does make sense. Thanks secondtry. 👍

Yikes, hope you feel better soon. A bit of advice as a foot health professional, keep an eye on your feet. Its not uncommon, after a bout of cellulitis, to get issues with fungal nails. Fingers crossed you wont.

Thankyou Ducky I didn’t know that.! Iv seen cellulitis complications written on medical forms I handle at work and until now never realised how serious it can be if not treated early enough😳

I've known a couple of folk with it who were hospitalised, so not pleasant at all. Hope you have a swift recovery.

Doctors said it looks like Iv caught it from a insect bite near the sight of the first reaction.! I’m now all of a sudden paranoid about midges and daddy long legs.😳😂😂
