Why is RHR 25% higher after ablation and is return to normal period indicative of recovery period?

I know increased RHR, post ablation, is expected and normal but does anyone know why? What are the physiological responses that cause this? HR normally increases to meet a demand for more oxygen - what’s demanding it here? Or is the blood less oxygen rich (per ml)? Do ecg’s improve as the RHR drops eg less arrhythmia/fewer ectopics?

And if the time it takes for RHR to drop and stabilise (to what it was before ablation or to a slightly increased level) the period of recovery - is that the time to really assess how successful the ablation has been?

For me personally, as a 65 yo former GB team age group triathlete (2 years ago) who dreams of returning to the sport, I’m wondering if I should wait until my RHR drops from current 72 to or close to its previous 60 bpm. I’m thinking wait at least 6 months, RHR stable & down to 65 or less and few/no ectopics.

Thoughts?

My heart rate is also about 10 beats higher. I had my ablation 7 days ago. I believe it will settle down soon
