Crazy PVC when getting up from bed

Does anyone experience PVC mostly upon waking or if you quickly get up from seated position and walk? As soon as I wake up and try to get up my heart goes crazy for about 10 min then is ok. I never had this before I started metoprolol. Switched to calcium channel blocker and was still happening. I’ve asked my doc and he claims he had no idea. I tapered off calcium channel blocker and felt much better for several weeks and now it’s back. Doctor says only to use metoprolol as PIP if it gets very bad. Not going into afib but this can be debilitating.

Thank you. I think my cardiologist gets tired of me asking so many questions. He did tie it to possible POTS but has referred me to a cardiologist that specializes in this . Here in the states there are only five POTS specialty clinics. It takes a long time to get through all of the testing and in the meantime I just want relief.

Thanks for your help. Good suggestion.

Good 'one and a half minute' advice on here a while ago ......when you wake up lie there for 30 seconds, then sit up in bed for 30 secs and then sit on the side of the bed for 30 secs before standing up. Principally anti-stroke advice but may work for you.

Yes I get this when getting out of bed in the morning for around ten minutes as you say. Had it for several years, nearly everyday. I have never asked anyone about it. It just passes and I forget about it. All the best. Gill

Did it go away on its own?

Yes just lasts about ten minutes then stops on its own. Had it since about 2015. I don't really think about it too much , it almost seems normal for me now.

I am on metropolol too,,,,had a similar experience only once when headed for the bathroom upon rising,,,my heart thumped crazily,,,seemed like afib,,,felt so sick,,,called for an ambulance,,their EKG caught the tail end of the afib and I was back in normal sinus rhythm before heading for the hospital,,,got checked out and nothing more found,,,but felt ill all day and stayed quiet,,,have no clue what brought it on,,,I’ve had few afib experiences in the past5 years so it’s pretty well controlled,,,I must say I’ve slowed down the process of getting out of bed ,,,,,no more bouncing upright,,,hope this was a one time experience for you too,,,,be well!

Hi Hdev

Also on metropolol. BPM avg low to mid 80's. No side effects I can't manage.

May I ask your experience with metropolol ? Do you feel it properly controls your heart rate ? Have an appt next month and thinking of asking for a different med.

Thanks

I took 25 mg 2x daily for 3 years,,,,felt very sluggish and tired always,,,,heart rate averaging 50-60 all day,,,falling lower at night,,,and few, if any, afib episodes,,,ended up with a pacemaker this past March to keep heart rate closer to 70 and cut to half pill 2x daily,,,all in an effort to make me feel peppier,,,,I’m 74 with some wicked spinal stenosis,,,so don’t know how much more I can get around,,,,I have never done well with beta blockers for high blood pressure the past 35 years and still feel wiped out when taking them,,,but my afib is very quiet despite pvc’s and thumps and clunks on occasion,,,I’m thankful my afib is not more intrusive,,,yet know my heart does not function as it used to,,,,so many days just don’t feel ok,,,MD says my heart is strong and well functioning other than afib so I will just be thankful! Be well!

Agree! I am fine during the week in work. On Saturdays I am much more active, cleaning the house, running errands and all day I have crazy beats that are unnerving. Sundays, depending on the activity, too. I take 25 mg in the morning. After work when I exercise I am fine. They especially bother me when using my arms, like showering, washing hair, drying hair, etc. I also get tremulous. Wondering if the dose is too high? I’m also on Eliquis (PAF).

Can’t figure it out🤔
