Sounds about right if nothing goes wrong. The problem is if you are kept in an extra night it is usually several hundreds of pounds (£500+) per night so it can quickly add up. This is what is known as the "hotel costs" of a hospital.
Ditto to Bob’s reply but you do need to allow more for possible complications if you don’t have private insurance.
Mine cost about £20K 10 years ago, but that was with a top EP at a top hospital, was both cryo and RF in the same ablation and lasted 5 hours.
I'll have to come to the UK if i have to have another one. The hosputal bill alone for the ablation i had in June 2021 was US $38,000 (Day procedure, one overnight). The EP, NP, and anesthesiologist all billed separately. Grand total was $42,000+. Had it not been for good insurance, i'd have been bankrupted.
Aren't we in the UK fortunate with the NHS!! I had a 4-hour ablation at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford and they kept me in for a week afterwards; and nearly 3 years ago a double heart bypass there also. I'm now (touch wood!) fit as a fiddle though a bit lethargic probably as a result of 2.5mg of Bisoprolol each day - and none of it has cost me a penny. Three cheers for the NHS!
I totally agree. We are very lucky indeed. I’m so grateful for all the help iv received and surgery Iv had done to me by these marvellous folk.❤️
