First Experiences with Dronedarone and subsequent Liver Testing

My EP has recently switched me over to Dronedarone from Bisoprolol. See previous post.

It's great to be off the dreaded Bisoprolol and I have much more energy. Pulse has increased by 10 bpm. Also I haven't had an episode in the first month except from a couple of short lived episodes (30 mins) after just starting the med. I'm delighted!

Only issue is that the first monthly blood test shows my ALT liver test has increased from 17 to 68 U/L, which is slightly above the upper limit of 50. My doctor just says to keep an eye on in subsequent tests, and says if it goes above 150 then I'll have to be taken off it for obvious safety reasons- which would be really annoying as I feel the med is working well for me.

I'm wondering how the ALT levels changed for other initial Dronedarone users?

Thanks! Vince

Hi Vince1001, I started Dronedarone last December and my ALT levels went from 30 to 52, subsequent blood tests were 46 then 42 so going down slightly. I too have to have regular bloods taken to keep an eye on it. Hope all keeps well for you.
