Movelat cream v Edoxaban
Difficult to reply Aniela, the vast majority of folk here are not medically trained so will not have the knowledge or experience of either your GP or pharmacist. Maybe ask another Pharmacist, not much help I’m afraid. Some forum members may use both, and they may comment on their experiences…….
Thank for that. I guess I was hoping that someone on this site may be on both. I know that it's a no no if you're on Warfarin and other same family anticoagulants but with the newer drugs such as Edoxaban, apixaban etc using Movelat cream may be okay. Having a telephone consultation with my cardiologist tomorrow so may ask her. I may get an answer if I'm lucky and I'll get back to you in case there is someone there who is in the same boat.
Thank you for your comment. Will get back to my GP if I don't get anywhere with my telephone consultation with my cardiologist.
I have used this in the past and similar for arthritis with no adverse effects. OK in small amounts, not to spread allover the body!!😃.I'm on warfarin and always keep a close watch on my readings anyhow.
I am on apixaban and also have used movelat and had no problems. If you are using it for a short time and as said above are not going to spread it all over your body you should be OK. Definitely get back to your GP.
Apixaban is very similar to Edoxaban so I'm heartened to know that this cream has not affected you in anyway. It's only a small area I need to treat, so I am happy to go along with what my GP' has prescribed. Thank you for your comment.
Hello Aniela. I suffer with phlebitis which is an inflammation of the veins, in my legs. I also take Rivaroxoban along with bisoprolol, diuretics and levothyroxin. My hospital prescribed Movelat to help reduce the pain and inflammation and for me it works. Unfortunately the phlebitis is part and parcel of my heart problems.Your pharmacist should be able to put your mind at rest if you are concerned but it works for me.
It is the Pharmacist that threw me into this spin where I wasn't sure whether the GP was right or the Pharmacist who implied that Movelat could be absorbed through the skin into the blood thereby affecting my anticoagulant.s. As an aside I see that you are on Levothyroxin. I am due to have thyroidectomy soon, Covid permitting and wonder how it's affecting you as I've read that people were having difficulty getting their levels right. Anyway thank you for your helpful reply. I'm due a telephone consultation with a cardiologist and will ask him/her about the use of this cream, if they have the time, otherwise Movelat cream it is for me
To be honest, I can't remember the last time I was conscious of them checking my Thyroid! I've been so busy getting my Potassium and iron levels stable along with my pulse, blood pressure etc that I've lost sight of the other bits. I hope your Consultant will put your mind at rest re the Movelat as to me its been an absolute gods send.
Hi Aniela, The pharmacist is quite rightly pointing out a possible interaction between two medications, but always, the GP has the casting vote. You are fully entitled to ask the question of your GP and useful if you quote what your pharmacist has told you. Sometimes busy GPs don't fully take on board interactions unless they are deadly and need to have their attention drawn to these. But many times when I worked in a GP surgery, a pharmacist would call to do just that, to be told that, on this occasion it was OK.If you are having trouble getting your question answered through pandemic restrictions at your GP surgery, e-consults work really well. Recently I had to ask a similar question and was offered good advice as a result without having to trouble a GP personally.
I’m on Apaxiban and have Fenbid forte 10% for small troublesome areas of pain. ( knee/ ankle etc). It’s an ibuprofen rub. My GP said it’s ok so long as it’s not taken orally just applied topically. ( ? Think topical things bypass the liver? -not sure.). I’ve had no problem with rubbing my knees with same. I’m on Bisoprolol too. Good luck. Hope you get some answers.
Sorry I've taken so long to reply but I thank you for your response which is very helpful indeed. I will now heed my GP's advice and start using the Movelat cream rather than suffer in pain.
