I am a 78 Tom. Healthy other than cardio issues of afib. In 2017 I had an ablation which worked for two years. Then sporadic AF for a year. This year (2021) AF back with pulse rate of 162. The controlling med, Amiodarone was prescribed for six months. With the AF I had premature ventricular contractions which were very painful. Once I stopped the Amiodarone the pain ceased and my pulse rate , O2, and blood pressure were all normal. However, I still have sinus rhythm with ventricular ectopic. With all of the above would an ablation help? And specifically at my age of 78?

Ablation will not usually stop ectopics and I know of no EPs who would try. Although psychologically trying they are considered benign. Have you tried the slow deep breathing exercise we promot? Diaphragmic breathing slowed to less than six per minute for five minutes minimum usually stops ectopics .
I had an ablation in April to help my severe PACS and PVCs after anti arrhythmic medications did not work. I struggled with them for over 2 years. I had more that 10,000 PACs a day and I could feel all of them and that’s not counting the PVCs. I live in the United States and my EP does do them but not as a first option. It was the best decision I ever made! I still have them but not as many and they are tolerable. I no longer have to take any medication for them.
Love to share my experience but in park at moment. May I communicate on lap top when I get home. I am roughly your age and had 2 ablations in my early 70's. Talk soon.
Of course for Perm Afib not just PACs. My PR was 125 consistently. Now RHR 53 bpm. Talk later.
