Good afternoon everyone

I’m waiting for ablation and flutter to be done . Because of Covid there is a delay . I’ve been put on amadrone ....

Has anyone else had this ?

I’m still waiting for procedure to be done

Amiodarone is a strong anti-arrhythmic drug best kept for short term use.

I know that , but I need to know has anyone had it ? And how long was they on it before they had procedure for ablation and flutter

Be loads along when they finish lunch I expect. A bit quiet right now. It is used quite often short term pre DCCV for example and post ablation some times. Not had it myself since 2005.

Ablations were on the back burner for the past year but not anymore.I have noticed an increase in posts here regarding recent ablations and I myself had one this week unexpectedly.

Yes, I had re entry flutter. I was back to normal the same day. No bruising or palpitations or ectopics at all. Been gardening the whole day and its day 3 post ablation.

I’m 11 weeks in , and still waiting.

I’m on meds to stop that crushing pain on my chest . So I’m more comfortable than before.

Did u experience this ?

Had it since 1995 in South Africa and was put.on the waiting list just before Covid.I only had some pain during tachycardia episodes (AVNRT).

I was on Amiodarone for 7 months waiting for my 3rd ablation, it was delayed due to Covid but when I was asked at very short notice to come for the procedure once they had done the ECG and bloods before the procedure my consultant came to talk to me and said he didn't think it was a good idea to continue as the heart looked fine and didn't wish to risk upsetting it .I had actually been off the Amiodarone for 10 days as it had caused an eye issue ( the liver was fine ) so he decided to put me on Dronedarone for 3 months and after the 3 monthly check decided to keep me on it for another 12 months as I had not had any issues. I could have taken the option to stay off the drug but having not had an episode in 7 months and hoping the Amiodarone had given my heart a chance to get stronger I thought I would give the Dronedarone a chance to really give the heart a breather for a little longer and he agreed.

Hi ShellbyI was put on amiodarone after my first ablation failed. It did put me back into normal sinus rhythm and I was only on it for about three months. Both my consultant and I were aware of the serious side effects that can happen from this drug but being on it for a short while did the trick. Just couldn't sit out in the sunshine! Good luck and I hope you don't have to wait much longer for your ablation. Gloria

I have been on and off Amiodarone for the past 5 years. Currently still on it but hoping to come off it at some point in the next few months as I had an AF ablation in April.

Hey ducky , can I ask your age and did u have flutter also ? And has the ablation got rid of your symptoms?

Hi. I was I my 40s when the AF started. Early 50s now 5 years on. No one has ever mentioned flutter being involved, just AF with RVR. I am still getting symptoms but apparently, it's still early days. From what I can gather, the ablation for flutter a little less involved. 😊.

As mentioned, I'm still getting symptoms. Yes, I do work part time for myself as a a foot health practitioner and had a month off after the ablation...... but wished I'd had another couple of weeks off.

I see you still have no definite answer to your question so perhaps my personal experience will help if you have AFLUTTER and/or AV Node Reentry Tachycardia.Most people with flutter have both.

These 2 anomalies arise in a common pathway in or near the right septum AV Node.

The ablation of this pathway will treat both arrhythmias simultaneously.

During my ablation the EP induced both arrhythmias for mapping and then ablated this pathway.

Neither AV nodal reentrant tachycardia nor atrial flutter could be induced after the procedure despite 3 attempts.

This procedure will permanently cure these conditions.

I'm afraid you read my post incorrectly.

After the ablation the EP as a test tried to start the arrhythmias but could not. This means the ablation was successfull.

This is a permanent fix and I will never get this type of arrhythmia again. I may on a small off chance develope AFib later though.
