Hi everyone. It's a while since last posting as my PAF has been stable however I was prescribed the drug Oxybutynin for an over active bladder and after a few days I flipped into AF.
Has anyone else experienced this reaction to this drug. Also it gave me consipation. Thank you . Take care.

I was given it for my bladder problems, but never used it, and my wife has it for similar and uses it now and again owing to the side effects it causes - very dry mouth and similar. I was looking at the side effect list and saw arrhythmias are on it.
Thank you for your reply Seems this drug is not suitable for me , I stopped after 5 days . Will be discussing with my GP on Thursday. Thankfully I'm back in NSR but now dealing with the constipation problem also mentioned as a side effect (this is nothing new as I suffer from IBS and other digestive issues).
I 'd rather have the frequent peeing problem than AF.
Frequent night-time weeing is a real problem for me, adding to my woes with insomnia! My cousin had problems with this drug, too, he tells me. It does help my wife now and again when she needs it, although she hates the side effects, as I say.
Tell me about IBS and constipation! Add in acid reflux, too in my case. Oh to be young again, I say!
medlineplus.gov/druginfo/me... - serious side effects include irregular heart beat. Probably a good idea to discuss with your EP or cardiologist. Hopefully the afib episode is short lived. Keep safe
Hi ListerinesThank you for your reply and link to the drug info website. Yes thankfully the episode was short lived (3 hrs) but it knocks me for six for a couple of days.Interestingly this is not the first time medication has triggered my AF. Same happened 10 months ago with metroclopromide.
Ablation resolved most of the PAF issues back in Jan 2017 although I still have 3 events a year.
Had a face to face meeting with the AF team back in April this year and they seem relatively happy with my current situation however I'll email to update them. Will be discussing with my GP on Thursday the drug reaction problem but also the consipation which I'm pretty certain also relates to Oxybutynin.
