Metoprolol

I was prescribed 25mg of metoprolol, splitting the pill. Apparently I’m supposed to take it with food which means my first dose is around dinner time. The problem is I don’t eat after that so I have no idea when to take second half of the pill.

Sometimes we have to adjust our food timetable to accommodate our medicine timetable ! Could you not leave a bit of your dinner food allowance to take with your last tablet? Would a plain biscuit be sufficient?

If it's supposed to cover you through the day and night I would expect you to take half at breakfast and half a dinner. Metoprolol is supposed to last for about 12 hours. However for me at least, it tapers down after 9 or 10 hours.

I don't want to worry you but the bigger concern with metoprolol is, can you stand the way it makes you feel.

How did it make you feel I have heard so many different stores I don't know whether to start taking mine or not. Lol

At the dosage I was given (25 mg twice a day) it made me feel like a zombie or a robot, in other words, no emotion. However, we're all different. It may not do anything like that to you.

I take Metoprolol, 95mg in total. Half the dose after breakfast and the second after lunch. I believe it's recommended to be taken after meals to allow the controlled release (CR) to work properly. In my case I need the second table not too late in the day as it slows my heart too much when asleep at night.

I need to read the leaflet - I didn't know this had to be taken with food!

Just read the leaflet in mine and it doesn't say anything about taking it with food. I take 12.5mg half an hour before breakfast and 12.5mg around 8.30pm, along with my flecainide.

I checked the leaflet in mine, also says nothing about taking it with food.

I take 50 mg 8 and 8. I just have a couple of crackers, slice of cheese, or yogurt. I have also taken it on empty stomach, no problems with it other than kind of draggy.
