Hi, I have just had results from a recent echo, it shows my heart isn't pumping correctly on the left side, it is apparently moderate to severe. The doctor has no idea why. I have been referred to a cardiologist. The doctor has put me on 1.25 rampiril and 1.25 bisoporolol. I already take thyroxine.
I have suffered with chest pain for many years not severe. But did have pericarditis 13 years ago. And I have lbbb. My dad had heart disease. I had a ct angiography in 2017 which was normal.
I had covid in December and wonder if it may have contributed to this weakness. I saw the doctor a month ago with breathlessness and chest/throat tightness on exertion, like walking up the stairs she listened to my heart and prescribed diazipan for anxiety.
I have an ongoing issue with anemia and have regular blood infusions. It was the doctor at the blood clinic that referred me for the echo.
I'm sorry for the long read 💤💤 but I would be really grateful for any comments. I am worried sick in case my heart just stops, it sounds silly but I can't stop worrying about it. Unfortunately I googled, worst thing I could do. I think the tablets are giving me a headache too, or possibly I'm giving myself the headache. I have normal BP.
I'm 57, female 5' and weigh 10 st.
Sorry again for the long story.
Thank you, mandy x

Definitely try british heart foundation, also put your post on their website you may get suitable replies from people who have a similar condition. That isnt to say you wont get some good responses from here just cast your net far and wide for assistance. Good luck.
Your weight sounds a bit high to me. I am an older female 5/1 inch and weight 8stone 2.I guess many things can make you breathless but the only time I have been breathless was when I had fluid in my lungs and around my heart. It was affecting the pumping of my heart I was told.
I feel your heart condition, could easily have been caused by you having covid. Lets hope that is the case and it will eventually right itself. It's good that you've been referred to a cardiologist.
As others have suggested the BHF forum may be a better place for this particular post, we are more about abnormal heart rhythms here, but come back if we can help you should you have that problem too.
Good luck in getting some helpful and positive results.
I have an anxious personality, so know how you feel and it is horrible. Those fortunate souls who can put their fears to the back of their minds and get on with life as if all was well are luckier than they can know.
You will need to see a heart specialist to relieve your fears, as I am sure he or she will do. The heart weakness you mention means that the left ventricle isn't pumping blood as efficiently as it might. I think this is a common finding as heart issues go. Like you, I also have lbbb and have been told that it is rarely a problem.
As your earlier angiogram was normal, the heart muscle itself is fine, which is good news indeed. As for the covid, well, it is known to affect the heart, but I imagine this would slowly reverse. It does seem able to cause conduction issues, too, such as arrhythmias. Again, the cardiologist will be your saviour on this, too, I am sure. I bet you'll be fine. Chest pains of the kind you describe are usually anxiety related as I know well!
Thank you, I think when you get older you become fixated on how much your children still need you, I do anyway. I'm actually really positive and a get up and go type of person. I just get a bit frightened. But thank you xxx
Hi there, I know it is easy to say and not to do but worrying has such a negative impact, if you can try to distract yourself with other things while you wait for your appointment and keep positive it will undoubtedly help. I had a problem with my ejection rate (think that's the blood pumping function similar to what you said) and after treatment it was completely cured, so if yours is a similar diagnosis the good news is it can get back to normal. I hope you get your appointment soon. In the meantime, I am exactly the same age as you and while I was recovering from my op I watched all six series of Grace and Frankie on Netflix. This programme cheered me up no end and I would highly recommend it, it is very funny and a bit 'racy' but in a lovely way. Give it a try! All the very best, I am sure you will get sorted x
