I wonder if others suffer occasional problems with clear fluid suddenly starting to leak from ones legs or waking up to find a wet bed by ones ankles? My Afib has I have been told now turned to Heart Failure and I gather this might be a side effect.
Any ideas on coping or better still avoiding having to go to the Nurse and having a large leg bandage for a few days. I can't reach my lower leg to bandage it myself so wet tights or shoe is difficult to prevent.

Good afternoon MaryJoan. Sadly my Grandmother experienced the same as you describe, the only thing we could do was change her bandages everyday, the ones we did at home were not as tight as the nurse which she preferred, almost like soft socks with no feet. She preferred my touch as my brother was a little hard bless him.
On good days she used to put on her 'holey socks', which were a couple of pairs of my thigh high socks with the feet cut off, or my leg warmers I wore for a fancy dress outfit. She used to love it and pretend she was a naughty witch with stripy legs and put spells on us all (she had dementia as well). So maybe purchase a couple of pairs of really long socks and cut the feet off. It wont help the damp feeling but they can be easily applied/removed and come in great colours
As the heart declines ... it has a hard time pumping fluid (water) from the lowest part of the body (ankles). It's very common in congestive heart failure.
The good news is that there are plenty of natural approaches you can try to get relief. Nature has a lot of natural diuretics that are milder than what a doctor prescribes (one is Dandelion Tea and there are many others).
They say the supplement CoQ10 can increase heart's ejection fraction and reverse heart failure. It's worth a try, too.
Just do a search on the internet for natural healing of 'edema' and 'heart failure'. You'll find plenty of beneficial information. Good Luck! and I'm sure it will get better with consistent application of nature's healing compounds.
