Hi

I notice that Flapjack’s last posting had been removed.

What is the reason for this?

Perhaps the moderator removed it because of his offensive remark to Badger . FJ did actually rejoin minutes after deleting his account and ownership of his previous posts

He apologised to Badger after rejoining , and stated that , that was his reason for rejoining.

Is flapjack left the forum now? His invaluable to this forum be a shame if his left, hope it all gets sorted

It's a bit like the Germans and the war as Basil Fawlty used to say "dont mention the Germans major" 😂, and much like the war Pad, bombs going off everywhere and innocent civilians caught in the crossfire 🤷‍♂️. Don't know what exactly went off, or why everyone seems to have the hump, no need for anyone to leave, be rude, or take things out of context, but it happens, Tin hat now back on, take care dude speak soon 🧐

Padayn01 profile image
Padayn01 in reply to Ianp66

I could do with watching a few episodes of faulty towers absolute classic need a laugh, think everyone should do the same don’t take things to heart

Ianp66 profile image

Absolutely, life's too short 😉

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Padayn01

Just talking to someone one another thread from France about the vaccine rollout , Allo Allo is another classic worth watching again, same type of plot as the last few days, maybe not as much comedy 😂 .... Everyone gone mad and the English at the epicentre.... Speak soon mate take care Pad, and meet up for a coffee soon as this nonsense is over, unless I get lined up and shot for insubordination 🤷‍♂️.

Lilypocket profile image
Lilypocket in reply to Ianp66

Allo ici la France - that someone is moi 😊Fawlty towers, Not the nine 'o clock news, Benny Hill ( so bad it was good), Black Adder, Allo Allo, Frankie Howard , Monty Python ( He's a very naughty boy) .....

Just wish Covid would " bog 'orf" and I can once again sit down with friends in a bistro with no one mentioning "covid' (I mentioned it once and got away with it Manuel)

Take care!

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Lilypocket

Haha classics there Lily, won't it be lovely, just never have to mention covid again, Captain Slackbladder and Percy would be in big trouble on here 😂

Hey Lil...you didn’t mention Last Of The Summer Wine. The really old stuff was rubbish, in my opinion but the more recent contributions were ‘spot on’. I wonder if any of the cast had AF.

Lilypocket profile image
Lilypocket in reply to Tickerprobs

How could I forget to put that on my list and also " Dad's Army" a real gem! Afib is a funny thing so many people have it but I don't know anyone that has it except on this and another forum which is why I joined 😊We should start another forum called " Last 0f the summer Afibbers" or "Dad's Afib" 🤣

Ianp66 profile image

"dad's afib" 😂 am gone..... 🤣

So right Ian...I don’t suppose you’re a biker, or ex biker❓

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Tickerprobs

I am Ticker, used to have an R1, a couple of GXRs and a 750Ninja and load of off road bikes , rode off road from the age of ten.Big RTA in 2000 and a year in hospital ended my bikes, but love them still and the new sport bikes, just too old to ride one now without needing lifting off . Just gone to fast cars now, nearly as much fun. You into two wheels?

Tickerprobs profile image
Tickerprobs in reply to Ianp66

Used to be Ian, donkeys years ago. My old dad was a combination man, so I think it rubbed off on me. The interest only lasted a couple of years until I was old enough to drive a car, of which I’ve had 50 plus. Ridiculous really. I’ve had some really good motors, including motorhomes. I now run around in a Nissan Leaf, which is FANTASTICO. I just had a sneaky feeling that you were a ‘biker’

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Tickerprobs

Probably around same number of cars as me, serial car changer 😂. Got a couple, but the main weapon now is an F10 M5, running 750hp and 1000nm, makes for an interesting drive...

Tickerprobs profile image
Tickerprobs in reply to Ianp66

Sorry Ian but that’s not a car, it’s a rocket. I think the quickest thing I’ve had was a TT. My speedy days are now over. Having said that, although the Leaf is just 150 bhp, it takes a bit of beating at a standing start. The smash up you had must have been major. A year in hospital...blimey ‼️

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Tickerprobs

It's unreal like a bike performance wise. The accident wasn't a good one, got hit by a 4x4, broke my back, and other stuff, scary time. Lucky to walk again, but tbh got lucky and am stubborn so got back to decent health. Then got afib 😂. Ablation sorted that thankfully just happy to be here and enjoying life.

Tickerprobs profile image
Tickerprobs in reply to Ianp66

Hey Ian sounds like you went through the mill. Broken back‼️‼️. I came off my bike after hitting a brick in the road and that was it for me. Just facial cuts etc but decided a car was the thing. I’m 71 Ian, how old are you, if you don’t mind me asking.

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Tickerprobs

55yrs young Ticker, yea said same thing after the accident, not worth the risk.

Tickerprobs profile image
Tickerprobs in reply to Ianp66

Just a ‘little technicality’ Ian...Spall... but I’m not going to take humbridge over it.

Ah yes, typo haha, spell correction on the Samsung is to blame 🤷‍♂️😂

Lilypocket profile image
Lilypocket in reply to Tickerprobs

Of course I forgot that terribly not politically correct series " Are you being served" and the wonderful wonderful Morecambe and Wise show ( shows my age haha!) , "The Dave Allen show" , " The Two Ronnie's" . . .....

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Lilypocket

Definitely Blackadder and especially the first series which for some reason is never repeated. Goodness Gracious Me was funny too and more recently a comedy called Coupling.

Lilypocket profile image
Lilypocket in reply to Auriculaire

Don't know "Coupling" but been absent from the UK for years now. I'll look it up 👍"Outsourced" was very amusing about a troubleshot American manager sent to an Indian call center. I used it with my French students for the different accents : Australian, Indian and American. Of course not on the same laugh out loud level as Blackadder.

I think it’s tremendously sad , Flapjack is and always has been, such a very valued contributor. I was aghast this morning when I looked back through some previous weeks posts and saw lot of controversies from varied sources. We are very lucky on this forum that people give their time freely and share knowledge. I have found it invaluable since I was diagnosed in 2018. Some posters might need to give their heads a wobble ,as life is difficult enough with heart issues , never mind that we’re a year into a Pandemic! Please don’t go looking for more difficulties from behind a keyboard .Flapjack is a very valued member of this community. I certainly know that FJ’s posts helped me a lot when I joined . Get out and enjoy the Spring sunshine . Take care everybody and be kind .

Amen Alessa69! "Please don't go looking for difficulties behind a keyboard". We've been suffering recently from a number of deliberately confrontative posts - usually on topics not AF related - it's not what this forum is about. I too will miss Flapjack and hope he returns. I also hope that this thread does not turn into another soapbox.

Alessa69 profile image
Alessa69 in reply to Singwell

Exactly! I did wonder about putting my head above the parapet, but I felt it important to thank those who have helped me SO much . Fingers crossed 🤞 No one needs a Twitter adversarial style .

Ianp66 profile image
Ianp66 in reply to Singwell

As said before and as above, its not strictly confined to AF only answers, would be boring if the whole world was the same. Shame FJ had left, no need , and I can't see any confrontation here, can you?, a little light and airy chat is allowed, we aren't Like Renee and Co, under Ze Germans... Yet!

I am new to the forum and both Flapjack and Badger have been very helpful with advice. I hope they both keep contributing

I don’t know what caused the problem I r what was said originally. But AF is bad enough on its own and any help dealing with it is welcome

GrannyE profile image
GrannyE in reply to Mitcham

Agreed.Problem with A/Fib is that just having it can make one anxious as can Covid fears and isolation and if something else is going on as well then one really is in trouble. We all need kindness, tolerance, and forgiveness. I am sure no one intends to give offence. Sometimes things just come out wrongly. We come here for information and comfort and to know we are not alone. The internet has allowed one to make off the cuff comments and send them off with the press of a button rather than finding pen and ink paper and an envelope not to mention a stamp. By the time one had done all that and walked up to the post box it gave one thinking time and the letter could be rephrased to say things more tactfully or not at all.

I think watching something comic (personally I like Yes Minister and Yes PM) is a great uplifted of spirits as are the G&S operettas and The Marriage of Figaro. Wonderful tunes and happy outcomes.

Somewhere I heard that just holding a pencil horizontally between the teeth lifts the corners of the mouth which promotes endorphins and makes one feel a bit better. So smile even if you don’t want to and see if that helps. Let me know if it does

I didn't see the post so maybe FJ made an unsuitable reply to Badger, for which he has apologised. We are all exhorted to be kind during these difficult times. Its very sad that a member who has given so much time and support to many of us seems to have been castigated and others have taken umbrage . Please sort it out and don't let hurt feelings spoil the forum. C'mon Badger and FJ, sort it out and let's carry on and put this spat behind us.

Peony4575 profile image
Peony4575 in reply to Silvasava

Badger hadn’t taken umbrage . In fact he was kind and generous in response . You can’t see that because it is on the disappeared thread

Silvasava profile image
Silvasava in reply to Peony4575

I did see the thread yesterday but didn't notice the post in question. and I was not talking about Badger, it was generally about some of the other posters who too FJ to task. I do think that the written word can be misinterpreted in the tone of a comment and mea culpa.

Whoa . . . what did I miss? Flapjack was an invaluable friend to me, against the dreaded AFIB when I was in the Cardiac Care Unit. What on earth happened. I really hope he will return as he will be sorely missed. Just think of all the people he has helped over the years.

Hi Had Flapjack’s original post not been removed all would have become clear to you

It seems that Flapjack had become a little weary with all the challenging posts and the replies that followed them( mostly off topic) that have appeared on the forum in the last 10 days or so.

And unfortunately things escalated from there.

He will , I sure, be missed by many

fabjabfab profile image
fabjabfab in reply to mrgwair567

Mmmmm. Thank you. There has been a few posts of late that have raised eyebrows.

I put it down to people feeling incredibly isolated at the moment, conversing online is a skill that many do not possess unfortunately. Hiding behind a screen is all to common occurrence these days. It it not easy to convey tone and often things get misinterpreted. Plus everybody has their own sensitivities so it very easy to press a button when you were unaware of its existence in the first place.

Fingers crossed he comes back

I went in to afib with zero experience or know how - like many of you. When I asked for help I was greeted with the same response you see here all of the time - real help and advice. Much respect.

I hope the forum continues as it is - afibbers can continue to share their own experience and offer support. Both to new and old members. Afib can affect us all - regardless of gender, orientation, or race.
