Bisoprolol
I have reflux and a small hiatus hernia for which I take lansoprazole (30mg) each morning, half an hour before any food. I have had various uncomfortable stomach symptoms for many years on and off. These became worse last November, with the most difficult being nausea, but also I have a strange kind of discomfort under the left rib and sometimes into my back, all made worse while sitting. Both my GP and I think my stomach is somehow related to my heart issues (which, now, following my ablation in mid-2019, are mostly ectopic beats and occasional tachycardia).
If the bisoprolol has stopped your own stomach symptoms, then it might well be because your heart was upsetting your stomach in some way. It seems that in some people, including me, the stomach and large intestine can become distended by gas and push the sheet of muscle that is the diaphragm, into physical contact with the bottom of the heart causing it to be disturbed in various ways. Also, there is some evidence that the large nerves that travel through the diaphragm, alongside the neck of the stomach or oesophagus, can also be irritated, perhaps leading to arrythmias.
