Covid Vaccine

I had the Astra Zenecca vaccine on Monay. No issues at all, execept slightly tender spot at injection site which had gone by yesterday.

My wife ( who does not have AFIB) also had the jab and developed a very sore arm within hours followed by a high temp 38.5 c , which was controlled by paracetamol during Tuesday. The temp disappeared overnight Tuesday, but she still has the very sore arm this morning can't lift it up to shoulder height .

Not a medically trained virologist, but I am assuming that the reaction to the jab means that she would have had a bad reaction to Covid itself?? So very good she had the vaccine if that is the case!

The other lesson for those who have not yet had the vaccine- make sure if you are right handed you have the jab in the left arm, in case you too get the sore arm!

Best wishes.

I have no medical training either but do not see how a delayed reaction to a jab tells us anything about how you'd react if you caught Covid 19.

Women’s immune systems work differently . We mount a stronger initial defence to an infection so women are more likely to get side effects ( I watched a live webinar with Prof Tim Spectre and others the day before yesterday ) It could also be why less women than men were hospitalised and died from Covid . Sounds like your wife mounted a good immune response so I wouldn’t be writing her off
