My fave is post-dramatic stress disorder as we have an ongoing dispute with someone given to high drama and exaggeration and it describes our feelings accurately in this case!

My first experience of predictive text was when writing a letter (remember those?) on my brand new computer in 1996 to my husband who was somewhere mid Atlantic on a small yot. I wrote a long description of a 7 mile walk my friend & I had just completed along the tow path of the Thames. I described the scenery, the people & then wrote of the rowers practicing in their skulls.

Never loved it down. (Or lived even🤔)

A Skull is a type of rowing boat!

Spelled scull 🧐

I looked it up and still got it wrong!

(And I was a professional Technical Author for years!)

I have rowed one - but that did not help!

You could blame predictive text? 😂

Oh - I did but in those days few people knew or had heard of predictive text or even spell checkers. I knew exactly what it was & how to spell scull - how could I not walking from Henley to Cookham - but I put the spell check on and just didn’t catch the mistake before I printed it.

Caused huge amusement - for many years as we had 3 Olympic rowers on the boat and the letter was read out to the whole crew! It’s still mentioned at get togethers a over 25 years later.

A form of malapropism?

I once (probably more often ☺️) said to my small daughter ‘I specifically told you.....’ She picked up the meaning but what came out in a perfect imitation of my cross tone was ‘I pacifically told you....’

My friend told me her mother was looking for syphilis in the supermarket 🤣

I love this and had a quick look at our family WhatsApp to share our predictive text mishaps but most of them are too rude!
