Hello,
Below is a link, some of you may find interesting

It’s an anti-platelet not a blood thinner - there is no such thing - so it lost me at that point.
Taking even a baby dose of daily aspirin can be dangerous and put you at high risk of stomach ulcers and bleeds - which is what happened to my grandmother.
Taking the odd aspirin prior to flying or a long journey when you will sitting for a long time to prevent DVT might be a good use of aspirin as a prophylactic but maybe unwise if you are also on anticoagulants without doctor’s advice, other than that I avoid taking aspirin.
Hi CDreamar,
You have a point. However, semantics or offering a simplistic medical advice (do or don’t) about a complex subject is not helpful.
There are numerous studies, by respected medical institutions, suggesting potential benefits of aspirin as a prophylactic. My suggestion to a colleague - research the issue, discuss your blood clotting factor and other relevant parameters with a doctor.
We are all different. Regular use of aspirin and other medications carries specific risks, which need to be balanced against its benefits. One glove does not fit all.
I am concerned that benefits of an inexpensive and relatively benign medication, available world-wide are ignored. Let us hear the evidence

100% agree with CDreamer. Aspirin has a place in some heart disease and if you have stents or artificial valves but otherwise best avoided .
I listened to the pod cast whilst doing other things. It's only 5 mins long. To be fair, it does mention "blood thinners" but it also goes on to say aspirin should only be taken so as to help prevent further issues after a first heart attack. It then mentions that a Chinese style vegetarian diet would benefit most Americans, which I don't disagree with!
I recall reading a couple of years ago the astonishing claim that "heart disease began in childhood", based on the finding that fatty plaques can be found in the arteries of even young children.
I also remember reading that studies on primates both in the wild and in captivity showed much the same findings. This pointed me towards a very different direction of thought!

I have taken a baby aspirin daily for roughly 25 years. No doctor told me to, I decided to myself. My mum died of an unexplained heart attack aged 54 when I was 19. I’ve always, or long had, heart arrhythmias with no cause(apparently). I take the coated ones that are supposed to survive the stomach, which cuts down the risk of bleed/irritation. I’m on no other medication(lots of supplements though). And..... I’m still here🤷🏻♀️
