Does anyone use an apple watch 6? I know it has an ECG function, and I'm thinking of buying one.

Yes I have one. What would you like to know?
I just wondered if you felt the ECG was accurate, and do you share the information with your doctor.Thank you
You can link with the Dr. I love mine, featuring the EKG and pulse rate
Oh that's great ,thank you. My minds made up to get one now 😊
I don’t know anything about them but it would be a good idea to check if your Doctor’s here in the UK will accept the reports. I know that’s generally the case with the Kardia mobile.
Thank you for that.I was thinking about calling my GP surgery next week. Although I think I will still get it anyway.
I can't see any reason why they shouldn't. Someone posted an example the other day.
It will only show AF but seems to give reasonable trace. I think the Kardia is more versatile & accurate but it’s not wearable so by the time you get it out, you may miss the event if short.
It has an automatic alert of high heart rate but to get an ECG you have to hold the crown.
Hope that helps.
The 6 series is the best money I have ever spent as yesterday it showed me how high my heart rate was plus with the ecg I was able to show the Drs in a+e as by the time they seen me I had self converted.
That's very reassuring, thank you. I was only diagnosed in March.I have no symptoms, and it was only discovered when my pulse was taken at a routine appointment for something else. I think the ECG function sounds great.
Your welcome, mine was undiagnosed until June 2019 when a 48hr tape caught the AF, I felt palpitations but with heart disease I sometimes got palpitations so it wasn’t uncommon for me but I never noticed my high heart rate. And yesterday the my heart rate high a new high of 187. Caught on ECG the only thing is the ECG won’t say after if over 120bpm but the reading will save anyway.
And you would never have known if you didn't have the watch. I do a lot of exercise, so I was surprised to be diagnosed, and because I don't get symptoms, the watch seems the way to go.
Are you in permanent AF? Because then its only use would be to monitor your HR, not to catch episodes.
I actually don't now .I have no symptoms, and I was diagnosed at the beginning of the first lock down.I also had a severe nose bleed and had and was in hospital overnight. Because of the current situation, my subsequent hospital appointments were over the phone, and not very satisfactory. That's really why I thought about getting the phone, so I could monitor myself.
HelloI have an apple watch 4 stainless steel with ECG ..Apple Watch 6 have morse funktions for the heart as oxygen measurement.
good clock that checks you have sinus
rhythm every 10 minutes.and if your puls is to Low or fast.
We both have one . It was a lifesaver for me last year when my AF went haywire . I was able to email recordings to my EP , when events happened , which were invaluable . I eventually had a successful ablation in August
I have a Apple Watch 5, I’m in the U.K. and it was recommended by my cardiologist. I send him the .PDF via email. The AW6 has few more features, the latest software update allows for detection of AFIB at lower pulse rates. Someone recently uploaded a photo of an ECG print, on here. Also my cardiologist wears one as well
I have an earlier I watch and I compared the pulse rate with a hospital monitor and it was exactly the same. It alerted me to my fast pulse at the beginning of my heart problems. It also flagged up my AF episodes. Although I ended up purchasing a Kardia rather than a much more expensive later version of the I watch
I have the AW6 and I think it’s excellent. My only gripe is that I wish the battery lasted longer.
I bought mine to wear at night to catch any arrhythmia while I sleep. Also it monitors heart rate & oxygen sats(for my sleep apnea). I have had 2 ablations, the last one in March 2020 am no longer on zarelto & haven’t had any episodes but want to keep it checked in case I need to restart z.
Without a shadow of a doubt my iwatch 6 saved my life. My EP loves it.
Go for it , they are brilliant. The HR monitoring is worth it alone. The ECG and blood oxygen functions work fine also. Lots of other great features.
Just make sure you don’t over worry with it though and become a little health obsessed 😊
In UK here and have worn a series 4 for past couple of years. My cardiologist was more than happy to recommend and accept the copies of the ECGs as PDF. The heart stuff in combination with the fitness tracking makes it a pretty compelling device. I charge every night so it’s ready for the day. Series 5 added always on screen (raise to wake on series 4), then series 6 added pulse oxygen.
I understand your situation since my daughter has no symptom too. She is diagnosed with PVCs - extra heart beat from lower chamber . Both UCSF and UCLA doctors said she doesn't need apple watch but we bought her one in hope to know when she has episode and what triggers so that we can prevent it.
Here is our experience with Apple watch 6:
-She cannot take ECG whenever her heart rate under 50 and/or over 120
-Since she doesn't have Afib, ECG shows an arrhythmia but "inconclusive". We assume that "inconclusive" means PVCs (or other things than Afib).
- Her heart rate shown during taking ECG is different than heart rate shown on the watch face .
-Heart rate measured from Apple watch is different than from Fitbit and Omron. Which one is more accurate? We don't know.
-It alerts when her rate lower than 50 for more than 10min but never an irregular heart rate although ECG said that she has one. We don't know why it can't detect her arrhythmia !!!
We are very disappointed because our goal is to be alert when she has extra-beat but it never shows. However, she likes that
-it reminds her to get up and move when she sitting too long to study
-it has fun breathing exercise face
So, unless you have symptoms then using the watch for checking your ECG then it's useful, otherwise it's not-Maybe it's designed for Afiber only?
Thank you, that's very informative. It's a real shame that the watch doesn't live up to expectations.I'm going to do a lot more research before I decide whether to get one.I'm also hoping to speak to my GP.I do want it mostly for the ECG facility.
They have just recently updated the algorithm for the ECG it now reads lower and higher heart rates for AFib. I highly rate it, without it I wouldn’t have gone to A&E as previously undiagnosed ended up having a cardioversion.
