I had a reoccurrence of AFIB 3 years ago and have just suffered another 4 weeks ago that put me in hospital for six days ( back in SR now) my wife and I have done some research and have realised that on both these occasions I had the flu jab a week or less prior - cardiologist is denying any link as per usual but I am not convinced so shall no longer get the jab anymore

Hi,My AF was first diagnosed in early January 2010 ........ I have had a flu jab every September ever since with no side effects whatsoever. My AF is well controlled through medication and lifestyle changes over the years such as diet. Personally, I don't believe the Flu jab is the cause. I would review, if you must, other features of your life that might have brought on an AF event that coincided with the jab.

Good luck.

John

Thanks John - I to have had AFIB since 2010 and have had the flu jab each year since usually the nasal one but on the two occasions I mentioned I had the injection in the arm which appears to cause problems for me. Will be speaking to my specialist soon so will try to obtain and report any useful tips/advice he gives re flu jabs 👍

That's interesting .... all my flu jabs have been in the arm, never nasal. Didn't know that nasal was an option.

If I was you I would follow your hunch and avoid the flu jab unless you are particularly exposed to crowds of people. Don't just leave it at that though, use it as a driver to improve your Lifestyle habits to compensate e.g. just simple things eat & exercise better.
