If your husband is getting a “normal” reading then we have to assume the pad is connected to your device correctly. Make sure your fingers are clean, dry and not greasy. The same applies to the two silver pads. Press record and touch the pads with two fingers from each hand. Normally, put your left fingers on the pad with the battery cover underneath. Don’t drink anything and leave your fingers steady for the duration of the recording. When the recording ends, it automatically gives the result. Either normal, possibly AF or Tachycardia.
Type “using a Kardia” into the search box on YouTube........
When you first start looking pat your Kardia recordings it is very confusing! Great you have your husband’s recording to get an idea of what normal looks like. For a start, take some recordings when you’re feeling fine and some when your not and compare them. And ask your dr or nurse if they can help explain the patterns to you.
I second what FlapJack said, check out youtube for some video explanations. I’ve had a Kardia for several years now, I find it so useful to help me keep track of any events and also to see what “normal” is for me.
You are not looking for anything, as FlapJack says the recording will give you a result. My ‘normal’ recordings are quite different to my husband’s, all my family’s recordings look a bit different, like handwriting! I am assuming you have PAF because if you are in permanent AF I don’t think Kardia will be useful except to show your HR (heart rate). Hope that helps.
Hi, thanks for your reply, I have permanent AF and I had wondered if the machine would help at all. I do see my heart rate when I take my BP so probably is no use to me.
You're looking for the size of the gaps between the peaks. If you don't have AF, the gaps should be even. If you do then the gaps will differ, sometimes being longer then shorter in a random way.
