Hi all, I remember being scared to death the first time I had af 46 Yr old 5 yrs ago, fit as anything was running 6 Mile 4/5 times a week mountain biking couple times a. Week then bam, anyway just wanted to give a bit of positivity to everyone beginning, I had the ablation which didn't seem to work at first then 5 yrs on I'm back running mountainbiking and weight training, so everyone it's not all doom and gloom maybe one day it will return but until that day I'm living my life to the full and have been since 3 months after the ablation when I pulled on my running shoes again, no I didn't run but walked and got faster and faster until I dared to run again, its what makes me tick I'm not going to sit there and give up, I was told its important I get myself fit but not to push too hard which I don't,,, it gave me hope reading about people on here having successful ablations so I would like to give others hope, thanks guys all the best Paul

Great news, the key takeaway for me was you built your old life back very slowly, which was successful.

I had very bad anxiety for months kept feeling it would return checking pulse all the time, then one day was told to stop it by my cardiologist and not to check at all so I don't,, the anxiety went and I coukd regain control once again x

Everything in moderation and build on that, just take it really easy, I love being back out there I'm so very thankfull to the NHS doctors nurses that made this all possible x

Hi Paul, It's great to hear from someone who has a success story to tell. A key take out from your note is the fact that you ( like me) had a few months after the ablation when you felt it hadn't worked. For all of those contemplating ablation, and for anybody who has just had the procedure, please don't be discouraged immediately after, when the AF can often feel worse than before. It does take several months for the heart to heal and stop misbehaving. Of course, more ablations can be necessary, but not for everyone and I'm pleased to see someone living life to the full a few years on. A positive Christmas message!

I understand to much strenuous exercise can bring on A/Fib. So take care mate.

Fantastic news, can I ask do you get no symptoms at all now? Like an ectopic hear and there?

Hi there, I don't feel any ectopic beats but I did do for about a year after and convinced myself it was going to come back, the morning after the procedure the surgeon came and said I went into af during the procedure and had to do a roofline burn too, his comments were he didn't think it had been succeful so he'd be seeing me again, I don't ever actually check my pulse anymore as guided by my cardiologist which as put all the anxiety to bed, I do understand at some point it may come back but until then I have to live and enjoy life as much as we can anyway, cheers Paul
