Hi all, well this morning when I woke I had the quivering thing happening......with me it only last a few minutes, but I took my pulse instantly and my heartbeat was also steady no weird beats. So I am wondering whether we are all thinking it’s our heart , when it is actually a phenomenum happening in that area, as it seemed to me it it wider than the heart region.
Just a theory.........

Quite agree BUT the heart is in two halves and only the left side makes itself known via the pulse . Dont forget also that we all get muscle ticks such as that annoying eye lid flutter which can be so embarrassing in public so could be something like that inside.
Hi bob, Ah yes I see.....I’ve had this fir many years and not given it a second thought till we started talking about it, it’s fascinating me why it happens .
Left side pumps blood round the body and back to right side which then pumps it to the lungs for re -oxygenation and back to left side. It is the four pulmonary veins bringing blood back to the left atrium which are often the sites of the rogue impulses in AF. Dr Who has two hearts of course. lol
Contractions of the left ventricle force blood into the aorta and thence into the artrial system Once blood reaches the capillaries' at the outer extremities it then joins veins which bring it back to the right side to be pumped to the lung and back to the left atrium. . Two systems doing different things but hopefully working in harmony.
BobI think you’re right about it being like an eye twitch in as much as you get a run of sessions of it goung on then you don’t get it for a while. Also it does seem to be that side of heart towards the center chest.Sue
Well, I have now had this sensation every single day for well over a week on waking (including waking during the night). It usually dissipates fairly quickly when I get up and often improves when lying on my back. Repeated pulse checks and Kardia recordings show a normal heartbeat and rhythm. On occasions, the sensation is felt at the left elbow and doesn’t seem to be centred on the heart. But it is always on the left side and started the day after some PAF last week. I still don’t know what it is- posts here seem to attribute it to either anxiety or atrial flutter. I googled for things like “internal vibrations” and found thry can be associated with MS and Parkinson’s which is very alarming. Given that so many people have reported it here I suspect that it has something to do with the heart. Of course, it’s possible that people are describing different things, i.e. one persons “quivering” is a different phenomenon altogether from another persons. It remains a mystery.
I would really like to know what this is too because I also get it. I always check with my Kardia but it doesn't seem to show anything. I'll have to wait until I have my EP review and ask her - whenever that will be! 4 1/2 months post ablation and not heard anything yet!
I don't get it that often but when I do I'll get it 2 or 3 times in a week, then nothing again for weeks. It is always when I wake up, sometimes during the night and sometimes first thing in the morning. I feel like my whole body is slowly and gently buzzing, it is really weird! When I check using my Kardia, I see nothing and it just reads as normal. I do wonder whether it is when I wake suddenly from a deep sleep. I don't notice it during the day at all.
When you read an ECG the upside down V that is the highest point is when the left ventricle is pumping blood out . This is what we feel when we take a pulse reading - our heartbeat.
I wake up some times with that shaking quivering thing. Lasts about 15 minuites. Most unsettling...i have paroxsymal af. The quiver makes my hands shake too. Was getting worried i may be getting parkinsons or something.
Me too on waking.. about 3 times a week I fall asleep on sofa at night 15-30 mins & wake up weirdly quivering/tremors as you all explain! What meds are people on? Apixaban, bisoprolol & flec PIP 🤷🏼♀️
