That is a very good echcocardiogram report Ivy so don't even think about it. Mild mitral regurgitation is very normal and to be honest the term mild is very subjectve. All the echos I have had very between mild and trace depending on the operator yet it has not changed in 15years.

Thank you it brings me peace.

Hi Ivy,

That is a very detailed ECHO Report. Did you have this via NHS or privately ? I have just had one but I never had this in depth report .......... at the time they checked my BP which was 152/90, but, I had to have it done in a surgery environment and had to walk quite some distance to the guys rooms and he was a marathon walker and I was almost trotting to keep up. The real disappointing thing he never took an 'after ECHO' BP reading to see how the BP had dropped.

At the time the guy simply said valvular functions are fine but he could see where the AF had hit the Left Atria, but never commented on size. On the other hand my GP rang me and just dismissed it as clear apart from the original damage to the Left Atria, everything else was normal.

However, my employer has commissioned a healthcare company to get me to complete a questionaire on my health which I did - declaring all the health issues I have. I've since had an interview over the phone with a Dr. from this company and he is going to get me to give written approval for my GP to release full details of the ECHO as well as details of a hearing issue I have which is being pursued at the moment. So, hopefully I'll find out more in due course.

Sounds like you'll live till the Queen sends that telegram at least! What a lovely report to have received. As for the swelling ankles, what does your GP say? I think many people just have these, though. Walking , going up stairs or activating the "calf muscle pump" for a few minutes every so often by straightening the feet back and forth definitely helps improve leg blood flow and, in my elderly friend at least, keeps his ankles from swelling.
