DIGOXIN
Hi. I have just started taking it. I was told to take it at 6 p.m. starting with a dose of 125 mg. I have to ring Dr with my readings after 2 weeks .
Hi
Yes I take 125microgram once in the morning. Its used to help heart rhythm and pulse rate.
All the best
Colin
I started yesterday after 3 weeks at 140 bpm with flec doing no good and me being ill with bisoprolol, I took 2 x 125 micro grams at 6 pm and will take 1 a day from now , first impressions ... fine rate down to about 110 overnight
Yes I have been on it for two years. I take 312.5 mcg, 1x250 tab, 1 x 62.5 tab daily @ 08.00 in the morning. I take it in conjunction with Bisoprolol, an ugly mix if you ask me. Never tried dabbling with different times to take the meds. Due to the volumes I take, I reckoned that my HR/BP would slow down at night so did not want to reduce too much, hence the morning take. Hope that assists.
FWIW I used to take that dose of Digoxin with 17.5mg Bisoprolol. I felt dead, I then reduced the Bisoprolol to 10mg, and kept the Digoxin level stable. I return generally 126/68 BP, heart varies between 70-100. I feel reasonable 50% of the time, the other 50% I feel like sh++.. Like everyone else I just live with it...
Been on 125mcg for 4 years at 6pm with Bisoprolol 2.5mg 8am & 6pm. Introduced Digoxin to reduce Bisoprolol from 3.75 bidaily due to the high level of dizziness. Turned out the dizziness wasn’t solely down to BP level and the combination of those and my other pills and the timings of taking them works well for me. Hope yours works just as well for you whenever you’re taking it.
I couldn't tolerate beta blockers or calciun channel blockers, so am on a small dose of digoxin, 62.5 mcg once per day, in the evening, in combination with flecainide. Works for me.
Hi,
3 years ago we found that digoxin was the only medication that did anything for me without making me feel worse. For some reason the cardio started me off on 125 and again after about a month I was feeling worse. I was then going to visit a friend whose Dad was on digoxin and she said if I ran out I could have some of her Dad's tablets until she could arrange for some more - she was then a lecturer in pharmacy. She then said you are on 62.5 aren't you - er no, wonder why not? Asked GP to change me down to 62.5 and began to feel better. However, within 6 weeks had my first successful cardioversion which lasted for 11 months and was never put back on the digoxin just the anticoagulant. Thing is to do as your consultant says and make sure you contact them if things don't feel right so that they can change the dosage if necessary.
Yes I take 62.5 mcg every morning just before breakfast.
Sorry this will probably be of no help whatsoever but when in Goa (India) in January I had need to consult a doctor there because my pulse rate dropped to below 40 he sent me to a heart specialist who, when he saw I was taking Digoxin, told me to stop taking them immediately. I will no go into details about what he said about British doctors and their prescribing Digoxin needless to it was not one of his favoritedrugs. This message was conveyed to my heart consultant via my GP and I am still off them. I must admit I feel a hell of a lot better in myself since coming off them.
I saw a report a while ago that indicated that digoxin was good for men, but not good for women, possibly damaging even. Can't find the report at the moment.
