Alcohol and Atrial fibrillation

Just woken up, had had 3 cans of San Miguel from about 8.30 to 01.00. Feeling rather anxious and heart a bit lively. On Sertraline for anxiety, Bislolopol and Apiixaban for this. Alcohol a big no no as well, thought it would be OK. Probably a stupid question....

Learning from experimenting - best way to learn - we’ve all done it and got our answers.

I’m in permanent Afib waiting a cardioversion. One cardiologist said one wine now and again is fine after the procedure another one said drink whilst in it and not when after the cardioversion as it is a risk. I’m not a big drinker just like the odd wine but will be too terrified to drink after.

I learned pretty quickly that a glass of wine was a trigger so avoid alcohol now. Missed it socially at first but just accept it now.

This is actually Grigbey56 but I had to rejoin with another username in order to log in because the site said my email was wrong even though I still get the emails. Well I am just at the end of my weak tether, the one thing I had left to enjoy now has to stop then. I am wretchedly sick of what has happened to me this year and I am truly being punished for daring to try and make my life more bearable over the years. I can't stand my life now and am beginning to return to the option of ending it all , I can't stand it any more. I feel like I have willed myself like this and won't stop until I die anyway, it's like I knew my life would end horribly. And I'm on anti depressants ffs, just lost hope. Sorry for all that, will copy this to the Samaritans, sorry again.

Have you got any support at home from family or friends

Or counselling ?

Have you considered any options such as ablation which many find gives relief from AF symptoms?

I'm sorry you are in such a bad place and hope you feel better soon.

Please keep in touch with us .xxx

I’m so sorry you are feeling soo depressed. Please make an appt. with your GP. You may need your medication changing. When you get this low it’s horrible and you need to seek some extra help from your GP. Life can be better than what you are experiencing at the moment. Sending love and a big hug x

Sertraline can put one in a bad place and cause suicidal thoughts. Ask your GP to consider a different class of anti anxiety pill.
