HR 98, BP 177/101, frequent urination, only 10 days after cardioversion. Do I go back to A&E?
What now?!: HR 98, BP 177/101, frequent... - Atrial Fibrillati...
What now?!
I can only speak personally. I would not attend A&E. A cardioversion is not always successful. Sometimes it can last days, weeks or even months. Then sometimes it does not work at all.
Your hr is not excessive, but I would consult your gp about your bp. Do bear in mind that bp readings can be inaccurate when in af.
So sorry you are one of the unlucky ones.
Take care.
I would get an urgent call with my GP ..if this could not be arranged quickly I would ring 111 and take their advice.
What is your normal blood pressure,? How long has your BP been at this high level? do you already take BP medication?
It may be that the situation you are in may be causing a temporary increase oewing to the stress. I got to 160/ 100 plus once when I had A flutter and it was not diagnosed as the hospital was not doing much to find out what was occurring. ( I think a lot of the increase w was due to anger!) . I was normally BP 130/ 80 and it went back down once I understood what was occurring and got a plan to deal with it.
Best wishes
Thank you both. I have ended up in hospital again!
How are you now?
Jean
Thanks for asking Jean. I came home today. Now on amiodorone instead of flecainide, so far so good! I can’t fault the nursing, treatment and cardiologist. We are fortunate with our health system here in Queensland, Australia. Cheers Robin
Are you on Amiodarone temporarily?
I have a cardiologist appointment on 6 October and will be asking him then. From what I’ve read, I’m not keen to stay on it for too long. I had a thyroidectomy last year so at least that won’t be a problem! A further complication while in hospital- I had an allergic reaction to another drug and my tongue swelled so much they had to put me on an adrenaline drip. So lucky it happened in hospital! I’m on Plaquenil for RA and we think it was a generic version caused the problem
Sounds like you've had a tough time lately. Yes, we know Amiodarone can damage the thyroid, it did mine. In your case I think I'd want to ask if it can damage other glands in the body too.
I do know someone who was taking it for 8-10 years and in all that time he never read the instruction sheet, so didn't know to keep out of the sun and had a very ruddy complexion. As soon as this was discovered he was taken off of that medication, but experienced no side effects whatsoever. He actually died of pneumonia in his late 70's .
