I have been on the above for seven years. Has anyone experienced long term muscle throbbing continuously. Doctors can’t sort me out.

Hi, I have been on Apixaban for 5 years and have experienced joint pain and general aches. Not sure what you mean by muscle throbbing.

Hi, well about a year ago my left leg started Occasionally pulsing, twitching, then it got continuous 24/7, went to my back and other leg. Just like a heart beat but much much faster, I just got weaker, and very tired. Had various blood tests etc. Doctors could find nothing. In complete desperation I went to a homeopathy, she said I was very low in magnesium and she thought that Apixaban was stopping me taking in nutrients, probably because I am older. Don’t know whether she is right, but now taking supplements, and eating food high in magnesium. When I again spoke to my doctor she said I was ok, and completely dismissed me. Last week I asked to try Edoxaban, to see what happens. Hope this helps.

Ah, I understand now - sounds really uncomfortable. My cardiologist has suggested switching to Edoxaban. In the meantime I have halved my dose of Apixaban (with his agreement). However this has more to do with weight loss than pain.

Maybe you should seek a second opinion, rather than accept GP dismissal. There could be many reasons for your discomfort, none of them necessarily linked to AF.

Hi, thanks for your thoughts. Yes I would like to get to the bottom of it, but I don’t know what else to do or go. My doctors just won’t see me. I don’t go often, and their attitude really upset me. I am normally fit and healthy. When I first started apixaban I was the only one in the whole area taking it and go no back up, so it was a learning curve. I had my gallbladder out last year, and as my husband had a lot of aches and pains when he had his out, I am wondering if I am similar. Hope your problems improve.
