Substitute for metoprolol

I've read that D-ribose is as good as metoprolol. Has anyone here tried the D-ribose and did it work for you? What steps did you take to get off the metoprolol and start taking the D-ribose? The side effects of the metoprolol are not getting better for me.

Dr Stephen Sinatra has it as part of his awesome foursome supplementation.

I havent read anywhere that it is a replacement for hypertension drugs as belindalore suggests , from what I have read its to give you energy.
