Hi to everyone and I hope that you are keeping safe and well, i ventured out today for the second time since isolation and went for my prescription only to be told that the securon are no longer available and to ring my gp and discuss an alternative so I rang and explained and was told that the message would be passed on, they rang back and said go back to the pharmacy and ask them for a alternative, i explained that I'd been there and they told me to ring the gp, then i was told, well I'm only passing the message on, so I rang the pharmacy back and they now have to ring the gp as they can't issue an alternative medication, typical case of one not knowing what the other is doing, anyone else been told of the securon not been available.

Frustrating!!!

Frustrating for sure, but your pharmacist is correct in this case.

This happened recently when I was trying to get a prescription for my daughter, the meds her GP had prescribed had been discontinued but our pharmacist did write down a couple of alternatives that we should ask for

I took Securon SR many years ago and then my GP made prescriptions for the generic version Verapamil that did not always suit me.

When some 10years ago I was on Verapamil the chemist very often had to order them in - they said there were only 2 others on the drug as it was classed as an older drug. At one time there were production problems & I had family in different parts of the uk trying to find a pharmacy with them in stock! Worked well for me until.... even the highest dose I was on stopped working - so i was put on various others & have had 2 ablations
