Question when is it best time to excercise before or after you’ve taken your beta blockers for the day?

I take my beta blocker (Bisoprolol 5mg daily) at night with all my other night time meds. This leaves me all day to do whatever I want, including exercising, working .......... whatever.

Hello please can you tell me if it’s ok to immediately switch taking Bisoprolol from the morning to evening ..my Husband takes his in the morning and then doesn’t have much energy for the rest of the day he’s been on this medication for 18months along with Xarelto...thank you

I was originally prescribed Bisoprolol to be taken first thing after waking up. I got side effects, some lack of energy but the worst thing was random nose bleeds. Saw my GP who changed it to be taken at night. I take all my night time meds around 8pm. Haven't had a nose bleed since and no other side effects either - and that was 10 years ago.

I must stress, Bisoprolol is a tricky little number, whatever you decide DO NOT do it without consulting your GP or Cardio Consultant.

This all came about when they didn’t tell hi to stop taking Candesarten before a TKR Op afterwards (24hr) he had a seizure which brought on A Fib attack ...it’s amazing how you get into trouble on medical neglect..... thank you for the advice

I am on sotalol twice a day, I always take my morning one before exercise, it slows me down and stops me pushing too hard :) I have a friend who cycles also and she waits till after cycling so she can get her heart rate higher!

I stopped taking metoprolol because I couldn't accomplish a decent workout when I took it. My cardiologist had me try several other beta blockers. None of them allowed me to be myself.

I now take metoprolol and diltiazem but only when I have an event.

I'm not suggesting anyone do what I do. It's just that this is the only way I can live with myself.

I take 10mg of Bisoprolol really has little

Awareness that I’ve taken it

Certainly has little effect on exercise.

Just feel sleepy if I sit for to long.

This is linked with Pramipril 10 mg at

10 pm .

No problem with either

I take my beta blockers in the morning and at night. The only exercise impact is that my BPM normally stays within a range of 80-95. That is fine, I Nordic walk 4-5 times a week, good exercise. And I have no other side effects, I feel fine.

is that 80-95 during exercise?

Yes. Sorry about that, left info out. My at rest BPM is between 45-50. Some people feel tired and out of sorts at that rate. So far, it doesn’t bother me. My doc did have to lower the beta blocker about 6 months ago because the BPM got down to 40. The flecainide has worked well, and no side effects. I guess as others have mentioned, the drug reactions do vary...
