I just received a communication from a good friend of mine who is in persistent AF and is also over 70 and has recovered from COVID-19. She started daily meditation practice (TM) about a year ago and has recently added in the HearthMath practice for calming HR and has just sent me an ECG showing that she has managed to reduce her resting HR from 100 ish to 80 without the use of any drugs (she is very against them) other than anticoagulant and very occasional beta blocker as a PIP if she has sustained high HR following exercise.
I am so delighted for her but also clear demonstration to me of the helpfulness of these daily practices in the importance of managing stress and worry to help manage your HR and thereby your AF and general wellbeing.
Go well friends.

I have not had much success with meditation, both by myself and in group sessions.I have really worked at it on/off over many years but no luck. On the other hand I find breathing exercises useful. I wouls say these 'alternative' methods of calming are very much a case of what suits one does not suit all.
I don't follow one discipline but have found an hour before bed of meditation, prayer and one or two light yoga exercises followed by a Radio 4 Extra comedy programme a great way of reducing anxiety.
