I posted here a couple days ago wondering about my heart rate going up when my BP was up and vice versa. Since then I have checked my BP and heart rate in the pre dawn "Wee hours". both have been elevated on several occasions. But I essentially never have such concurrences during my awake hours. Has anyone any clues about this

Hard to say what is going on. Any chance you could have sleep apnea?

I do have sleep apnea and wear a CPAP. Do you think that might explain what I am seeing?

in reply to ralft

Untreated sleep apnea can cause elevated bp and heart rate at night. Not sure about how fast it corrects with treatment.

Thanks for the encouragement to stop fretting about mine. My concern started about 10 days ago when my BP was quite high in the MD's office. It continued high even after getting home for a few hours and then went back to normal. Several years ago my MD assured me that the "white coat syndrome" was quite normal and prescribed Lisinopril which reduced the MD office spikes by a lot. I am extra concerned about spikes because I have an eye problem which is sometimes caused by high BP.

Ì was tested for white coat syndrome, the thought of the monitor stressed me out . Ì told them it stresses me I had to wear a 24 monitor to see if that was the case. And they found I had af. And my blood preasure was high most of the time . Under control now with medications. Ì check my own blood preasure now .And it doesn't stress me now.

I just measure once a week now, because I have cut out a lot in my diet , to see can I lower my blood pressure. Since I cut out saccharine with aspartame two weeks ago, been on them for forty years my blood pressure has stayed steady. since

I never used to read side effects of vitamins and medications but since taking blood pressure tablets , and blood thinners started over two months ago . To see what vitamins react with prescribed medications. I didn’t realise omega 3 fish oil 1000mg also thins blood, because my ankles a half way up my legs swelled ,it felt as if I had been walking in nettles. Was getting worried stopped taking fish oil, problem solved. Just check everyone before you take extra vitamins with medication. Or ask pharmacist
