Hello again, just wanted to ask, does anyone know anything about Idoxipan? My Husband has AF etc; and is on Warfarin. The Surgery rang a few days ago to say his prescription has been charged from Warfarin to a new drug so that he doesn't have to keep going to have has INR taken every few weeks. He last went last Monday when the reading was 3.3 and do was due to return on Monday coming but as to cut down on Surgery visits, hence the new drug. The Pharmacy has just ring to say Idoxipan will be delivered this afternoon. I looked it up on this site but the search didn't find it. Does any of you lovely people know anything about this drug please. Keep well everyone.
Warfarin change: Hello again, just... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Warfarin change
Try Edoxaban. Phonetics don't always work do they?
This is one of the newer anticoagulants which need no testing so not unexpected.
As BobD says, you need to try Edoxaban. If you click on the first pinned post to the right of this page there you will find access to lots of useful information on all anticoagulants including Edoxaban......
I was on warfarin and requested if I could try a different medication, because I had heard there were other meds than warfarin. This was in January and I was put on the same one recommended to you.
I have had no side effects, take one a day. My INR would be fine for months then it would go really high or really low. I now have no INR tests, just take my one tablet and it's been fine.
Have not had to go to my doctors surgery since January and now with things the way they are I am sure glad I asked to come off the warfarin.
Keep well everyone .
How I wish I could stay on Apixaban. 48 hours ago I lost a very dear friend who picked the virus up in hospital. I dread the nurse calling to do my warfarin test. At least it was only the finger prick one this week.
Thank you all. The Surgery had prescribed 60mg, thought that was rather high for my Husband, then later in the afternoon the Surgery rang back and said it should have been 30mg!! and to cut the pill in half until the repeat comes next month. After that the Chemist rang go ask if my Husband would mind if the Pharmacist rang him in a week's time to see how he is getting on. We will have to see. Have a good weekend everyone and thanks again.
Hi I did a long post a few weeks ago about the same thing. Which you might find if you search my posts?
I was very worried about changing and NOT even given an INR check beforehand, just told to miss one dose (in my case, because I am usually stable).
I was also prescribed EDOXABAN 30mg.....felt a bit odd once or twice initially but seems OK now. No monitoring, so I just hope it is doing it's job!
