Hi everyone. Are any of you in self isolation due to your AF?

AF and self isolation
I'm trying to avoid too much contact but to put it another way have any members of this forum actually had a letter from NHS? I mean the letter going to all at high risk patients telling them what to do.
High Bob, I am self isolating. As I am on my own I try to do online grocery shopping but I struggle to get a slot now. My daughter said she thought I would get priority because of AF and age. I tried this morning by filling a form in online and telling them about AF. I do not qualify. So I don’t think anyone of us will be receiving a letter. Both my kids live away. So they can’t help. But my neighbours are very good. Hope you are keeping well. I was reading something on the government thing it said that AF sufferers would be able to cope if they caught Coronavirus. I’m not taking the chance. X
I received mine this morning ,saying the government has identified me as someone who is extremely vulnerable to coronavirus, plus an email from Sainsbury`s stating I am on the priority list
Yes I had the same letter (and email) yesterday. Such a relief as I have been trying to get a slot for 2-3 weeks.
In the meantime I have been having an Afib "attack" for the last couple of days and as I was admitted for an emergency cardioversion just before Christmas as it was massively high tachycardia as well, I feel so worried that the same thing might happen again and hospital is the last place I want to be at this time.
I’ve tried the deep breathing etc, but it makes me feel so dizzy and lightheaded as if I’m going to faint and made the Afib worse. A couple of years ago I was on flecainide which I found brilliant, but my EP said no to stop it as it could cause more problems like flutter and he did an ablation which hasn’t been completely successful.
Stay safe everyone.
AF is not on the list of medical conditions for Shielding for which you are told you must not venture out of the house for at least 12 weeks.
I think at this time it is a wise to choice to avoid contact with the outside world and self isolate as much as possible but after nearly 3 weeks of this isolation life does become somewhat difficult, thank goodness we have a garden next to green open spaces. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for anyone in a small flat in the city.
I have had the NHS letter and the daily texts and the telephone calls and the food parcels - but not because of AF. I have registered with the gov.co.uk and I can say I am being monitored and checked on daily. It’s almost becoming intrusive but I think I would rather have it that way than being ignored!
Oh good at least somebody had a letter. Not that I wish that on you CD but understand the reasons. I didn't think AF was on the list. Three weeks feels like eternity even with our occasional walks but at least there are five of us here which tends to make a mockery of isolation when three are working! At least my monthly flying magazine has now finished its four days quarantine.
I have COPD, asthma, AF, and very dodgy lungs from TB as a child..... plus a couple of other long spelling things and defo age qualify. No Government letter but I have received email from Sainsburys giving me bookings priority.
My brain still tells me I am middle aged.
You must be on the 1.5 million list then. I just received a priority delivery slot from Tesco - such a relief!
Hi there, managed to get two slots booked with Tesco’s, for the next two week, I booked these before the craziness started. But after that don’t know what I am going to do. Someone said they do the slots at 12 midnight, they must know something I don’t because there is nothing there. I’m not going out at all except for walking the dogs. Neighbours are very good but I feel guilty asking them to get all my shopping. How do you get the slots any ideas. X I am trying to stay safe I don’t want to be poorly with my AF the anxiety is enough. Read somewhere that apparently we have a good chance of getting over the virus if we have AF I’m not chancing it. X
If you are registered with the Government for the high priority group - ie: those whose conditions require ‘shielding’ you can get a delivery slot. Mine only came through on Saturday- 2 weeks after I registered. I have 2 local farm shops who deliver so have had some fresh food but it has been a real struggle up until now!
I don’t know anyone able to get supermarket delivery slots without a Government registration entitlement. I tried the after midnight = no luck at all.
I don’t think AF in itself will make you more likely to get the virus but if you do develop COVID then it may certainly trigger the AF and/or exacerbate it.
Stay well. Is there any local community project who may help? I heard M&S were doing emergency food boxes but I think they are aimed more at those in financial need. It is a worry and I have spent a good deal of my days sourcing food!
Hi there, it is a struggle will just have to keep trying. Managed to get one from Morrison’s last week there was just 1 little slot that came up. But half the items were missing. And there were a lot of substitutions. They didn’t send any dog meat and I have four dogs. They all had chicken instead. Anyway keep well and safe. X
I'm not self isolating. Been distancing from people (more so than normal!) for about 2 weeks before the social distancing was recommended by the government - purely because we're still working and nursing and we didn't want to pass it on.
Occupational Health asked about 2 weeks ago if we had underlying medical conditions we were to send a survey back. I did, and have heard nothing. But then neither have people with diabetes etc either.
I am in self -imposed isolation due to a combination of ailments - asthma, AF, lymphoedema, carpal tunnel syndrome,, and a benign prostate problem, aged 74.
It just seemed sense to stay away from everyone.
I’m staying in luckily furloughed by work as asthmatic, not had a letter though so not serious enough. My Asthma when bad seems to make my af worse.
