Day seven Soc dis.

Sun out so mowed bottom lawn and strimmed in team work with wife Sam. Then noticed a lot of leaves in the back gullies for our en suite and utility room so decided to clean these out. U bends filled with detritus and mixture of soap and hair. Deep joy. Had to scrub hands for some time to clean them afterwards. Boys presented Sam with largest mother's day card ever and small pot plant. I spent the afternoon machining some Weber chokes in the workshop before carving turkey thigh for dinner. Virtual Barhrain GP at 8 pm.

We did really well yesterday. Did our workout. Then mended a chest of drawers which had two sticking drawers which took until after lunch(!) Then because of mess from planing and sanding outside mowed back lawn to try and pick up most of the mess which because of the wind direction was blowing into the grass. Wife told me not to do front but I did so now my back is sore. My wife did all edging and started weeding borders. We spoke to the lovely young girl from a couple of doors away who stood across the road from us and told us about the cancellation of her GCSEs. She is home now until September so her 2 year old poodle is having lots of walks. He always barks at me! Another good day so more weeding after our workout. Might consider going to garden centre as would like something colourful in the borders now. We passed on our walk on Saturday and there was no one there - should have gone in then. We will see. Maybe the garden just has to look bare for a while.

Google best online plant supplier; there are a few, and as there are no decent garden centres where we are getting plants by post is very convenient.

Not sure if you are following to the governments enforceable advice, but they’re saying to avoid any unnecessary trips out and I’m sure a garden centre would be considered as unnecessary under the current global pandemic situation we’re all faced with.

The less people out and about the less chance this virus has to spread, meaning, the more we take the advice seriously the quicker this virus will eradicate and allow us to get back to a level of normality.

The government has warned everyone with the Police having enforceable powers.

The one we were going to go to had closed but we got stuff from the one next door to the grocery shop and pharmacy we were going to anyway. Was impressed to see all the staff wearing gloves, checkout queues marked at 6ft intervals and staff cleaning tills, belts, and baskets as they were used. That should have been happening a long while ago. No need for us to go out for a good while now as we are having milk, eggs and bread delivered. We have a butchers' and greengrocers' van coming around tomorrow. So we are going to have so much time on our hands. I feel I should volunteer for something useful.

Well I wish we’d bought paint befire our shops shut as we could be painting a bedroom.....think actually you do need things to do while locked down.....yesterday was a grey damp grim day we were in the clouds here,

they rolled in up the mountain..( hounds of the Baskerville)..I did get a tad miserable....must keep busy .......

Just heard that B&Q is closed from today. My debtist has just closed too.

Morzine, that's what my wife keeps telling me. We have just had an email from ourlocal department store and they are open until Friday. Best get down there before all the plants disappear.

I think the last of our shops are shutting at the end of this week maybe earlier. We have just had a phone call from my wife's cousin and the list of jobs he has done is amazing. We really haven't done much apart from in the garden as yet. However, there is time.
