I felt I just had to share this news from my daughter. She has just returned from a shopping trip to her local Morrison’s. She was wondering what goods had disappeared from the shelves and was surprised to find that as well as the usual suspects pregnancy tests have run out. Clearly some people are planning what to do with all that spare time should they have to self isolate!

How odd, perhaps some women are longing to become pregnant and have panicked as to how they will know that they have.

Also I guess you need to keep fit somehow when you're stuck indoors for 14 days!!

I must admit I have been wondering how to keep fit in the event of being shut indoors for a fortnight. My immediate thoughts turned to gardening. Wonder what other people have planned.

Yes, my first thought was gardening. However, I did some recently and my goodness I can certainly feel it now. Must get into it slowly.

I am lucky enough to be able to garden all year round providing it is not raining . In winter I go out if the sun is shining even if the ground is hard from frost. But recently it has done nothing but rain and I am getting withdrawal symptoms! As long as I can go out in my garden I don't much care if I have to stay at home. Husband is far more restless and has to get out on the motorbike. He does most of the shopping though I have suggested that if we do it together we spend less time in the supermarket in the company of potentially infected people. I can also ensure that he remembers to sanitize his hands when we get back to the car! Restaurant visits will be the hardest thing to forego if things get really bad here. We were up to over 600 cases last night . Haven't looked today! As for the pregnancy tests - maybe they are made in China.

spinningjenny profile image

Well she’s only been married for six months, I’m guessing she has something planned for her own incarceration. One doesn’t enquire!

Wonder if that was because all the condoms had long gone! 😅

Paul & I obviously think alike!

It’s SO strange.

I bet everyone of a certain age (as I did) first thought was cherryade and lemonade being delivered and money back on bottles. Yes, I am stockpiling. I’m making sure I’ve got enough yarn for knitting and crochet, books, magazines, dvds and most importantly, tea and digestives! Well one has to get the priorities in order lol. Gardening too is on the cards but depends on the weather.

Horizontal jogging, oh gosh Bob I haven’t heard that for years. Brings back memories in more ways than one! xxx

Yes, I already have a whole library of stuff on my kindle and am planning to spend this morning dyeing some wool in readiness for my next project. (Hence Spinningjenny - yes, I do spin)

My son and his wife work in China. They were away on Chinese New Year, so have been waiting in the UK to return. They do in a few days and then have to self isolate in their small apartment for 14 days. ...We dont have any grandchildren yet!

Yes I went shopping yesterday for normal weekly shop and no toilet roll, tissues, bread, not even their usual yummy cake, hardly any tin stuff and as for the home baking aisle...0000

The virus doesn't cause diarrhoea so why the lack of toilet rolls???? Hey ho back to the cut up newspapers, but even the daily was in short supply yesterday too!!!!!

suebob59 profile image

The baked bean aisle was empty too in our Asda, no wonder the loo rolls are going fast😆

Yes I noticed that in Sainsbury's yesterday too, very strange!

Maybe constipation issues as well as dhiorea!

Interesting Development! My local chemist in Liverpool tells me that I can only buy one packet of paracetamol of 16 tablets at the inflated price of £2.50 - formerly £0.75.Panic buying has clearly set in.

spinningjenny profile image
spinningjenny in reply to aloysius2

That’s shocking. If it was Del Boy selling out of a suitcase it might not be surprising but you don’t expect profiteering from a local pharmacy.

It's all gone quite odd, hasn't it? I haven't been to investigate the Co-Op in town, but someone says they are all out of toilet rolls and paracetamol. I will check the pregnancy kits to see what the good folk of Llanrwst have planned for the foreseeable!
