I have been reading articles on studies that show PPIs taken for Gerd can cut down on AFIB episodes ,have known the two are linked as only have AFIB at night and often gerd at the same time, but many doctors do not agree.what do readers think?

PPIs and AFIB
PPIs are actually a bad thing long term as eperience shows they prolong and often exacerbate reflux.
My first cardiologist told me this but I had been on PPI for years as taking various different types of painkillers and NSAIDs - of course had to come off these because of AFIB and had come off the PPI when I met with the cardiologist and he suggested going back on as I was again having some stomach problems and he said it could help both as it had done with his Mother. It didn't make any difference to my AFIB unfortunately.
Long term use of PPIs can cause nutrition deficiencies such as low magnesium, B12 and calcium. PPIs reduce the stomach acid that is needed for these and other nutrients to be absorbed in the body. These deficiencies can cause heart arrhythmia including AF. I was on pantoprazole for 8 months to treat gastritis when I was diagnosed with AF.
