Can I just ask a question guys around beta blockers?

Can I just ask exactly what it does I know they block adrenaline to the heart, but you still get adrenaline in certain situations, and In the long run does that mess up your body when you are trying to get of them?

Never been on them but anecdotal evidence would suggest that there is often a rebound effect when stopping beta blockers.

Yeah I was thinking that’s the case

Bisoprolol for me mate has been a nightmare, it's the drug of choice seemingly for tachycardia suffererers like me unfortunately with most of the heart specialists in the NE I've seen in past years . If I'd know it was so hard to come off I would of refused it, been titrating off now for over 2 months and it's not pleasant, panicky feelings, like you literally have too much adrenalin. Exercise seems to help, not going to lie though its horrible coming back off it.

Cheers mate, how you coming off it? you taking a tablet every other day?

Been on 1.25 now for 5-6 weeks, gonna stay at this until the weirdness wears off a little, then half the tablet with a tablet cutter for a couple of weeks mate, then take half of that every other day for a week or so, that's the plan anyway . First two weeks were awful, and at times nearly took the higher dose as it makes you feel so worked up. But that's more or less passed and I've got loads more energy and not out of breath on stairs anymore, which doc said was just "getting old", don't you just love these GPs and their lack of understanding.

Spoke to Mikey a few weeks back as he had titrated off, and he said took him a while to feel 100% again so am determined to stick with it .

Slowly slowly catchy monkey as they say mate with this stuff, bloody awful.

Got a quick question to ask you mate? i want to so badly get back in the Gym, have not been in the Gym since Oct 2018, i'm just shit scared that my heart wont take the exercise and anxiety plays on me bad, how did you get back into it mate?

I did walking first mate and build it up steady , it's a bit of see how it goes at first, but bisoprolol reduced my stamina ridiculously, much better now am on a really small dose. Swimming the same alternate days, not done much in the gym yet, bit apprehensive about proper workouts the same, pity you weren't closer we could have a panic attack training together and take the P out of each other to ease it 😂😉

Am hitting 150-ish now mate , when on the bisop I noticed it struggled to get over 128-130 bpm, the 150 which seems fine and quick down to 80s on rest , then at total rest/quiet its between 58-65 depending how much the other half is battering my ears in, but stress/anxiety does impact it a lot mate I know exactly how you feel, itl get better mate it's mind over matter with me.

Find a cardio rehab class near you ( it could be at your local hospital or at the local leisure centre) and ask your GP to refer you for it. They will take you slowly through low impact exercise up to getting back to the gym. Usually there is a cardio nurse and a physiotherapist at the classes. At the beginning you may feel it is silly and not enough but you work up and it does you the world of good. Got me back to the gym.

Brilliant do I just type cardio rehab classes in google?

If found my most recent class by looking on the BHF site. Don't know if they are all on there. My first class wasn't but it was a bit of a makeshift affair so you could google or ask you cardio department as at my last lot of classes the nurses from there were involved with the course.

You could also ask at your local authority run leisure and fitness centre but you usually have to be referred by your GP.
