Hi all been talking bisoprolol but after a couple of years started to feel sick and dizzy so my doctor told me to come off which I have and all the sickness and dizziness all gone due to the recent virus problems I can not see my cardiologist until further notice but was wondering if I need something else in place or is it safe to keep off Beta blocker until I have seen the doctor when ever that might be
Beta blocker : Hi all been talking... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Beta blocker
I think since we are not medically trained that is not a question we can answer so best speak to your doctor. If your AF is asymptomatic and you are not aware of it then maybe best to take some pulse readings to check that your rate is not going north. If you are symptomatic then you will know !
Many Doctors are offering E-Consults or video conferencing or telephone consultations. Maybe see if your cardiologist is?
Hi Martin
Did your doctor test your heart rate in any way before taking you off of bisoprolol?
Jean
Hi jean yes he did it was about 68 at rest and now with no meds about 88 I should had an echo and Holter but due to recent events they have been cancelled and I’m in limbo I have sent a e mail to him and he said can’t do and have got no idea when
Hmm 68 rate should have been fine. I thought you may have said your pulse was going down really low. What dose of Bisoprolol were you taking?
So annoying that your tests have been cancelled, but hospitals are not overly safe places with the virus around now. Many years ago I paid privately to have an echocardiogram. I don't know if a private hospital could offer you this test? Difficult for you to know what to do, everything's at a standstill. Lets hope we soon come out of the lockdown.
I don't take any beta blockers. My resting heart rate is between 68 and 112 which is fine. I did take beta blockers for a few weeks but had unacceptable rare side we effects .
Maybe invest in a BP machine? Home delivery. Then you would have more information to tell your cardiologist.
I had a successful ( so far ) ablation about two years ago, and came off Bisoprolol shortly after that. My heart rate came back to normal and I felt much better.
No regrets so far from me. Good luck and stay safe.
I am always guided by the trained professionals. To be fair to them, they always discuss the option(s) to me.
As BobD suggests, keep an eye on your pulse
Cheers
Lal
You don’t say how many mg of bisoprolol you’re taking. In my experience an EP would reduce the dose first before discontinuing. What else are you taking. Best to discuss with your medical advisers.
2:5 mg of beta blocker I have stopped under the guidance of a cardiologist and taking 20 mg rivaroxaban which I’m still taking and since stopped taking the beta blocker all sickness has gone ,just need a follow up from my cardiologist and hoping and praying this virus soon departs
My EP reduced me to 1.25 a year ago with no problems but we’re all different.
