Help with unusual symptoms - follow-up

I wrote the following just over 2 months ago.

Help with unusual symptoms - Hi all having suffered with PAF for way more than 10-years I'm well used to the symptoms that go with the condition. However, my PAF has developed to include heart failure which has brought along it's various friends each with their own issues. One symptom I have started to experience greatly only happens when I lie down to sleep or even roll over in bed, I experience terrible discomfort / pain in my jaw and between my shoulder blades accompanied by rapid increase in breathing and heart rate and a flushing feeling. Really not sure what it is or what it means, I have mentioned it to my EP but did not receive a response.

Any thoughts or experiences of the above would be appreciated.

Well since writing the above I can now add a little meat to the bones, I now realise having been in AF recently for a week or so that the symptoms described above are only present when NOT in AF i.e. NSR.

Any thoughts out there?

Thanks all.

I don’t recall hearing about anything like this before. So no symptoms appear when in AF, only when in NSR! Unfortunately, I haven’t got a clue but hopefully others may have some suggestions. I know most of us tend to think that every ailment is due directly or indirectly to our AF, which of course, is not necessarily the case, but having a problem only when not in AF is very unusual.......

Thanks for your reply and yes the symptoms I described do appear to be very unusual, every "expert" i.e. cardiologist, EP, Heart Failure Nurse I have described it to have said the same. In fact my EP whom I spoke to earlier this week is arranging for an echo of my heart to see if there is anything to give us a clue. I'll report back should there be something noteworthy or otherwise.

Until then the question remains out there .... comments welcome.

You may wish to see if you have spinal issues that impact the nerves emanating from the spine. Generally, heart doctors do not consider this possibility. If this is the cause, they will never find it.

Thanks for your input, I'll certainly mention it during one of my forthcoming appointments.

I would guess it’s heart related as the strength of the heart’s contractions are stronger when in NSR so may. E triggering these symptoms. I would go to A and E if you have these sharp pains and get checked out Treponin levels etc.
